The One Piece will set sail as a new remake. One Piece has been popular since 1999. It can be difficult to get into One Piece with 1,000+ episodes. However, Wit Studio will fix the issues that made people uninterested in this anime. Wit Studio is committed to creating a good adaptation while bringing modern technology. It will honor Eiichiro Oda’s legacy by introducing the characters again.

Being A Faithful Remake

The One Piece is a remake that will be faithful to the original while bringing new ideas. The anticipation is there, yet some fans feel it’s too soon for a remake. This, in part, is true; the original is still ongoing with 1,200+ episodes. Series creator, Echiro Oda believes it’s necessary to fix the pacing and filler issues. Most fans want a faithful adaptation that covers everything from the original source.

Let’s say there’s a show on TV, but the show only covers 20%. That’s how the original feels for some fans. People want to see the Straw Hats fighting without filler episodes pulling away from important moments. New viewers are not interested in the original for this reason alone. With Wit Studio, The One Piece can adjust this for a newer audience.

Wit Studio: The Studio Behind the Remake

Wit Studio is a Japanese animation studio. It was founded by George Wada, who formerly worked for Production I.G in 2012. Wit is best known for producing Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, and Vinland Saga. Masashi Koizuka will be directing The One Piece. Hideaki Abe, Kyoji Asano, and Takatoshi Honda will also be a part of the adaptation. Tomonori Kuroda will be the art director with Ryoma Kawamura being the animation producer.

The One Piece was announced at last year’s Jump Festa event. The anime will be adapting the East Blue saga as the starting point. It shows respect for One Piece as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Wit Studio will work with SHUEISHA, Toei Animation, Fuji Television, and Netflix on the anime. Oda told Wit Studio to put their take into the adaptation. He wants the team to retell and reimagine the story that captures the manga’s appeal.

Ongoing Pacing Issue

One problem fans had with One Piece was how slow some episodes felt. Some fans felt that the pacing could fit if Toei fixed this issue. Wit Studio will not have to worry about this issue yet. The new production team will focus on improving the first season of. Koizuka and his team grew up watching the original anime and are proud fans to be given the opportunity.

The One Piece might have 12 or 24 depending on how many episodes the studio wants. This will let people keep up with everyone while watching the remake. New fans will witness the story in a better way that is easy to understand.

Cutting Fillers

The remake will also fix what the original had, which are fillers. There could be an arc with 12 episodes then have 40 episodes be filler. What this does is make fans dislike watching the anime. Even non-fans dislike how many episodes were filler. Fillers are side stories, either canon or non-canon, to the main plot. It’s why many fans are against fillers in their favorite anime.

There might be scenes that will show more compared to the original. One scene that comes to mind involves Sanji. It looks like the adaptation will have a mature approach. The One Piece will retell the scene involving Sanji. The scene comes from episode 20 in the anime. It involves Sanji grabbing Fullbody by his face after insulting his crew.

Fullbody insulted Sanji thinking he was a waiter. Then, Fullbody got angry when he saw a fly in his soup. After making a mess, Fullbody’s face is covered in blood. This happened because Sanji gave him two warnings. Fullbody did not listen so Sanji teaches him a lesson. Wit Studio will have their own alteration of the scene. While they did not show an actual scene, Wit Studio did show concept art. Many fans voiced how the original did not show the original scene. Some fans are hoping that The One Piece will fix this issue.

Improving Character Designs

The One Piece will have a new design for the characters. Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp will have their classic East Blue Saga look. Fans felt nostalgia when they saw the character sheet online. This has fans hopeful that Wit Studio will fix the issue Toei Animation had.

Koizuka’s team will make necessary changes that will have fans remembering the feeling they had. The remake is necessary. There are times when people want the studios to respect the characters’ designs.

Final Words

Wit Studio is the best studio for this adaptation. Once more news comes out in the future, fans can look forward to sneak peaks here and there. The One Piece will be an anime to watch whether someone is new to anime or a current watcher. At this time, there is yet to be an official release date.
