A24

A24 movies, the independent studio behind some of the most acclaimed modern films.

Total Apex Take

The indie studio that became a genuine awards and box-office force — without (yet) losing the curatorial identity that built its audience.

A24's trick has always been treating a distinctive visual and tonal identity as the actual product, which is why audiences will show up for “an A24 movie” the way they used to show up for a studio brand or a director's name. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” sweeping the Oscars was the moment that identity went fully mainstream rather than just critically beloved.

The harder question going forward is scale: A24 has been moving into bigger budgets and starrier packages, which is a natural next step for a studio with this much momentum, but it's also exactly the move that's diluted other “prestige indie” labels in the past once bigger financiers and bigger stars start shaping what gets greenlit.

Our take: the studio's output is still more reliably interesting than almost any other label's, but the real test of A24 as a brand is whether it can scale budgets without smoothing out the specific, sometimes-difficult sensibility that made people trust the logo in the first place.

About A24

A24 is an independent entertainment company founded in 2012 that has become closely associated with distinctive, auteur-driven filmmaking across horror, drama, and comedy. Despite its relatively small size compared to the major studios, A24 has built an unusually devoted following through consistent branding, bold marketing, and a track record of awards recognition.

The company both produces and distributes films, and has expanded into television production as well, while maintaining a reputation for taking creative risks on original stories rather than relying primarily on existing franchises.
