“Clayface” lost its grip on No. 1 over Halloween weekend. The Warner Bros./DC Studios release earned $11 million from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, down 54% from its $24 million debut, according to The Numbers. That left it about $443,000 behind A24’s documentary “You Can See Everything,” which climbed to first place with $11.4 million.
The James Watkins-directed Batman villain spinoff played in 3,478 theaters and reached $44.7 million domestically in its first 10 days.

How “Clayface” got here
IGN reported the film earned $43 million worldwide in its debut, split between $24 million domestic and $19 million international. It went on to gross $33.7 million domestically in its first seven days, before Halloween weekend began.
Through Monday, the film stood at $45.9 million domestically and $87.1 million worldwide, per The Numbers. It stars Tom Rhys Harries and carries a 76% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes alongside a 94% audience score, numbers Total Apex Entertainment has detailed in a [separate breakdown](ADD TAM LINK) of how the film’s reception stacks up against “Joker.”
What the “Clayface” box office numbers mean
A 54% drop is about what “Superman” posted in its second weekend, and it’s far better than the 77% plunge “Supergirl” took earlier this year. It also came on a weak frame for moviegoing, with Halloween landing on a Saturday.
The film’s reported budget falls between $40 million and $44 million, so its domestic total has already passed its production cost. That doesn’t make it profitable, since theaters keep a share of ticket sales and marketing costs aren’t included.
Audiences have been kinder than the chart. The film earned an A- CinemaScore, and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn celebrated the grade on Threads.
“Really proud of this,” Gunn wrote. “Sinners is the only horror movie to have EVER gotten an A Cinemascore, and only three horror movies have gotten an A- in the last couple years — Obsession, Weapons, and, now, Clayface. As always, all praise goes to James, Mike, Hossein, Tom, Naomi and the whole gang.”
Elsewhere on the chart, “Street Fighter” keeps fading. The video game adaptation fell 72% in its second weekend, when IGN reported it earned $16.8 million worldwide, and it now sits at $53.5 million domestically. Total Apex Entertainment covered the Street Fighter opening weekend numbers when the film debuted at $31 million.
New releases missed the top five
The biggest newcomer was a concert event. “BTS World Tour ‘Arirang’ in Buenos Aires and São Paulo Live Viewing” took sixth place with $2.8 million from 1,010 theaters.
“Christmas at the Kringles,” directed by Kevin Lewis and starring Ron Livingston, Rob Riggle, Rachel Bilson and Thomas Lennon, brought in about $711,000 from 1,825 theaters. “Sight & Sound Presents: Joshua Live!” earned about $751,000 across 1,230 theaters, and “The Mongoose,” starring Liam Neeson and Marisa Tomei, launched with about $464,000 at 1,014 locations.
What’s next for the box office
“Clayface” gets real competition Nov. 6, when “The Cat in the Hat” and “Godzilla Minus Zero” both open. Box Office Theory has projected $25 million to $35 million for each film, SlashFilm reported.
