Worlds 2026 Hanwha Life Esports Preview: Bringing the T1 Magic
The countdown to Worlds 2026 has begun. To start the hype for the international event, we are looking at every team in the tournament. Hanwha Life Esports had a mostly successful year. They won their first MSI title in front of their home crowd. They are chasing their first Worlds victory. With two former T1 players in their lineup, will they garner the T1 magic?

- Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo – Korean Mid Laner
- Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung – Korean Bot Laner

At the start of the year, HLE made two roster changes. Han “Peanut” Wang-ho retired, and Park “Viper” Do-hyeon moved to Bilibili Gaming. They brought in Kanavi and Gumayusi to fill those spots. It took time for the roster to gel, but they became an unstoppable force for periods of the year.
Further Proof For Gumayusi
For the past couple of years, many have doubted Gumayusi’s prowess. They attributed most of his success to playing in T1 alongside Faker, Keria, and Oner. He proved that he can win without them. After winning his first MSI title, Gumayusi showed he is one of the best AD Carries in the world. He may not be as flashy as Peyz, Viper, or Ruler, but he delivers when it matters. He can further cement his spot with a win.
Should they lift the Worlds trophy, Gumayusi will become the only player to win four straight Worlds. He was the Finals MVP last time out. He is not alone amongst Worlds Winners. Zeus won two titles with Gumayusi, while Zeka denied both of them an additional title in 2022. Zeka returns to the country where he made a name for himself. He exploded on the international scene, dominating as Sylas and Akali. He has added more champions to his repertoire. He is now one of the best mid-laners.

Aggression Maxed
Everyone on the roster has the propensity to take over games. But none more than Kanavi. They often live or die by their jungler. Few have the eye for aggression. If he sees an opening, he will take it. That will often go one of two ways. Either he is touted a genius for the choice, or an inter. There is rarely an in-between for Kanavi. Once the team adapted to his playstyle, they became one of the best teams.
We saw Kanavi’s shortfalls against Bilibili Gaming in the MSI Upper Bracket Final. XUN’s early games threw Kanavi off. That meant HLE could not play through their jungler. HLE lost that match 3-1. They adapted for the Grand Final to beat BLG. Kanavi’s aggression enables Zeus and Zeka. If both Zeus and Zeka get ahead of the curve, few can match them.
HLE’s Expectations
HLE is one of the favorites to lift the trophy. Two former T1 players should bolster their chances. The rest of the roster has what it takes to battle anyone in the world. They drew the short straw last time, facing Gen.G in the Quarterfinals. They will hope for a better draw or a better performance this year.
Swiss Stage Beginnings
HLE will start in the Swiss Stage. They will be in Pool 2 after losing to Gen.G in the final. They can face teams from Pool 3 in Round 1.
Potential Opponents
They can not play T1 in the first round. The other teams already locked for Worlds are either Movistar KOI or Top Esports. They await the conclusion of the LCS playoffs for another potential opponent.
