Teamfight Tactics Set 17 Poppy Hero Augment Guide: An Unusual One-Cost Carry Composition

Space Gods Set 17 for Teamfight Tactics

Set 17 of Teamfight Tactics has six hero augments as of patch 17.1. In patch 17.2, there are three additional hero augments. The way you approach the Poppy Hero Augment is different from the rest. Usually, you want to reroll at level 5 or 6 to hit your units. However, thanks to 7 Meeple printing units, you can go fast 8 and get three-star Poppy from that.

Poppy’s spell with the Hero Augment is her tossing a Buckler in the form of a Meep at enemies. If the Meep kills its target, it will bounce to the nearest enemy. The damage dealt to that enemy is the overkill damage from the previous target. For this composition, we will be focusing on leveling early. The faster we reach 7 Meeple, the earlier we can get three-star Poppy. Buy every Poppy you see as you level up.

Approaching the Augment

Early Game

  • Slam Early Items
    • Preferably, BIS Items for Poppy
  • Win-streak not required, but is preferred
  • You can level early to guarantee fight wins

Mid Game

  • Continue to invest in levels
  • Play the strongest board while holding Poppy and Meeples on your bench
  • If you hit Rammus and Corki early, going to level 7 while not killing your econ is viable

Late Game

  • Level to 8 and roll for Corki and Rammus for 7 Meeple
    • Bard is also good, but has a lower chance
  • Print Poppy’s and continue to invest in XP
    • Only roll for two-star Rammus and Corki if you need to stabilize your board

The Final Board

Your Endgame board should look like this:

  • Poppy
  • Milio
  • Mordekaiser
  • Fizz
  • Rhaast
  • Corki
  • Rammus
  • Riven
  • Bard
  • Blitzcrank

Poppy

Guinsoo’s Rageblade is the most important item for the Poppy Hero Augment. Having it early will increase your chances of winning fights. Infinity Edge is the second-most important item. After that, you can choose between Giant Slayer, Guardbreaker, and Deathblade.

Rammus

Rammus is your primary tank in this composition. Since you are not rerolling any other units, getting tank items for Rammus will help win fights. Rammus can use most tank items, including Crownguard. Slam whichever tank items you have available. You do not need Burn or Sunder, since your other backline carries can use those items.

Corki

Corki wants pure AD items as his core. He already gets Precision from Fateweaver. Ideally, prioritize Last Whisper for the Sunder and place leftover AD items on Corki.

Bard

Bard is the best unit to give a burn item to. You can also give Bard any AP items, and he will be fine with them.

Positioning Tips

Try to keep all of your carries close to each other. It will allow you to burst down targets and benefit from Bard’s Meeple Bonus. Bard grants the three nearest Meeple units an additional meep. As a result, having Rammus on the same side as your carries is a must.

Best Space Gods

Varus or Kayle are the best Space Gods for this composition. That will apply to all hero augments. Ahri is okay as well, if she gives you rerolls. Varus’s additional duplicators can guarantee you hit your units, and his boon increases your team strength. Varus is not as necessary for the Poppy Hero Augment, but he can help hit three-star Poppy faster to stabilize your board. Kayle can ensure you get the items you want, and her boon provides combat power.

Additional Tips

The Poppy Hero Augment does not require specific conditions to play. All you need is the correct items, and you will be fine. With the augment’s buff in patch 17.2, it has become one of the premier hero augments. The benefit of this one is that you have a higher chance of finishing first in lobbies. Most reroll augments struggle to win games because you lack the resources to cap out your board. Because we focus on levels, there is a chance you hit the level 10 cap.
