Teamfight Tactics Set 17 Two Cost Champions: Successfully Flexible

Space Gods Set 17 for Teamfight Tactics

The newest Teamfight Tactics set, Space Gods, has been on the Public Beta Environment. We have spent some time playing the new set and wanted to give extra details on all the new units in Set 17. Next up are the two-cost champions. There are a handful of two-cost reroll compositions on the PBE. Some of the two-cost champions are flexible thanks to their traits.

There are five two-cost tanks in set 17. Gragas is the most limiting of the tanks, with the other four seeing strong flexibility.

Gragas

Traits: Psionic and Brawler

Gragas rarely appears in compositions, given his limited traits. Psionic is flexible, but the other units provide better secondary traits. Gragas had a hero augment on the release of PBE, but the dev team removed it after a couple of days.

Jax

Traits: Stargazer and Bastion

Both of Jax’s traits are flexible. He can feature in multiple late-game boards thanks to Stargazer. Bastion, on top of that, means you can form a two-piece with units like Rammus and Shen on high-capped boards. His ability is powerful in the early game if you want to win streak. Jax’s Hero Augment turns him into an auto-attack-based bruiser.

Meepsie

Traits: Meeple, Shepherd, and Voyager

Meepsie lacks power in her ability. The reason for that is that she has three flexible traits. Meeple, Voyager, and Shepherd are all splashable traits. There is also a Hero Augment for Meepsie. If you played Set 16, she has a smaller version of Brock’s ability. Her Hero Augment turns her into a nuke.

Mordekaiser

Traits: Dark Star, Conduit, and Vanguard

Mordekaiser is another unit with a weak ability. Much like Meepsie, his traits are all splashable. He will often feature in late-game boards with a Dark Star carry like Jhin or Karma. Mordekasier had a Hero Augment, but Riot removed it at the start of the PBE cycle.

Pantheon

Traits: Timebreaker, Brawler, and Replicator

Pantheon is another two-cost tank with three traits. However, he is not as flexible for late-game boards as the previous two. Where Pantheon shines is early on, thanks to Timebreaker. The XP or rerolls can set you up for a comfortable late-game.

Teamfight Tactics: Set 17 Two Cost-Melee Carries

The two-cost melee carries are a big threat in the early stages.

Akali

Traits: N.O.V.A and Maruader

N.O.V.A units are flexible units in Set 17. When paired with another N.O.V.A., they can add additional value. Akali will give your entire team the ability to crit with abilities. Maruader is another flexible trait. It grants Omnivamp to your entire team. Akali can enable many compositions that play around units like Master Yi, Fiora, and Bel’Veth.

Bel’Veth

Traits: Primordian, Challenger, and Maruader

Bel’Veth is pivotal to find early if you want to play around Primordian. Having 3 Primordians is a good engine for either the reroll or fast 9 compositions. She can also be a flexible unit thanks to Challenger and Marauder. She pairs perfectly with Kindred compositions, who also run Akali.

Gwen

Traits: Space Groove and Rogue

Gwen is one of the least flexible two-cost units. There are a handful of compositions in which she can appear. Most of those comps play around Space Groove. She can be a good item holder for units like Fizz and Nami.

Pyke

Traits: Psionic and Voyager

A two-star Pyke early is a terrifying prospect. He is almost guaranteed to find his way onto a backline carry on stage 2. Both Psionic and Voyager are flexible traits. However, there are other units with those traits that will fit better in most compositions. Pyke has a Hero Augment that takes his ultimate from League of Legends and can print gold.

Teamfight Tactics: Set 17 Two-cost Casters

The two-cost AP casters are not extremely flexible.

Milio

Traits: Timebreaker and Fateweaver

Similar to Pantheon, a Milio early can help to fuel economy for the rest of the game. He is reliant on Fateweaver for his ability to do damage. There are not many compositions that use Milio in the final board.

Zoe

Traits: Arbiter and Conduit

There is a possible Vanguard Zoe reroll. However, that requires specific Arbiter conditions. Other than that, she can hold items for most AP casters.

Teamfight Tactics: Set 17 Two-cost Marksmen

Both two-cost marksmen are AD champions. They can be item carriers for higher-cost units.

Gnar

Traits: Meeple and Sniper

An itemized Gnar in Stage 3 can do some work. His damage output is relatively high and is a perfect item holder for Xayah or Jhin. Gnar is not the most flexible Meeple unit, as he will only feature alongside other Snipers.

Jinx

Traits: Anima and Challenger

Jinx will primarily appear in Anima boards. Other challenger units offer more board flexibility than she does. An early Jinx is crucial if you want to look for a high-quality Anima cashout.
