Teamfight Tactics Set 17 Mordekaiser Hero Augment: Burning Your Opponents to A Crisp

Space Gods Set 17 for Teamfight Tactics

The Mordekaiser hero augment initially appeared on the PBE for Teamfight Tactics Set 17. The dev team removed it a day after its release. However, it is back now with the release of patch 17.2. The range of his spell grows throughout fights, allowing him to access backline targets. Below is everything you need to know to burn your opponents’ boards to a crisp.

Mordekaiser Hero Augment

Mordekaiser’s hero augment resembles his passive ability from League of Legends. At the start of the combat, he has an aura surrounding him. That aura increases with size every six seconds. His spell grants him a shield and increases the aura’s damage for four seconds. Eventually, the aura can hit the entire board, allowing you to kill backline carries before the primary tank.

Approaching the Augment

Early Game

  • Win streak with slammed items
    • Ideally, Mordekaiser BIS items
  • You can level to four on 2-1 for more power.
    • The best start you can get is Illaoi, Lissandra, and Teemo for 3 Shepherd
    • Arbiter with Leona and Zoe is good as well

Mid Game

  • Slow roll on six for three-star Mordekaiser
  • Also roll for Lissandra and Illaoi if you get multiple copies.
  • Slam items aggressively to save health
    • Tank Items – Illaoi
    • AP Items – Lissandra/Karma
    • AD Items – Kai’sa

Late Game

  • After hitting three-star Mordekaiser, you can level or keep rolling for Illaoi/Lissandra if you need 1/2 copies.
  • Add in six Dark Star ASAP.

The Final Board

  • Cho’Gath
  • Lissandra
  • Meepsie
  • Mordekaiser
  • Kai’Sa
  • Illaoi
  • Karma
  • Jhin

Itemization

Mordekaiser

Mordekaiser wants AP Fighter items. His BIS is Bloodthirster, Edge of Night, and Jeweled Gauntlet. Jeweled Gauntlet, making the aura crit, can guarantee you kill a backline carry. The other two items grant him survivability. Titan’s Resolve is another option if you do not have Edge of Night.

Lissandra/Karma

Lissandra and Karma want AP items with Spear of Shojin. Three-star Lissandra>Karma. If you do not have three-star Lissandra, move the items to two-star Karma when you get her.

Illaoi

Illaoi is your tank in this composition. Even at two-star, she can be effective, but three-star Illaoi will help. You do not need Shred or Burn on her if you have those items on Lissandra/Karma.

Jhin

Jhin will take any leftover AD items. Ideally, you want Infinity Edge, Deathblade, and Giant Slayer. Last Whisper is good for Jhin, but not necessary for this composition.

Positioning Tips

Mordekaiser’s positioning is a little tricky. Ideally, you want him to hit backline carries as soon as possible. However, you do not want him to be focused early, even if he has Edge of Night. Your other carries do not need to hit the same targets as Mordekaiser. Especially once you have Jhin, you can snipe backline targets with relative ease.

Best Space Gods

Varus or Kayle are the best Space Gods for this composition. That will apply to all hero augments. Ahri is okay as well, if she gives you rerolls. Varus’s additional duplicators can guarantee you hit your units, and his boon increases your team strength. Kayle can ensure you get the items you want, and her boon provides combat power.

Additional Tips

The earlier you get six Dark Star, the better. If you have a way to get a spatula, make that your priority. The cap for this is often gated by finding Jhin. Because you are rolling at level six, it is rare to hit Jhin every time. The emblem guarantees you will have six Dark Star. Drop Kai’Sa if you have an emblem and hit Jhin. Any portals that grant rerolls, lesser champion duplicators, or components will help to cap your composition.
