Destiny 2 Crota’s End 2026 Raid Guide

The first cutscene when loading into the Crota's End raid in Destiny 2

The June 9th update brings tiered loot to every raid and dungeon in Destiny 2. Each one will see their weapons get a loot refresh and an individual armor set. The armor sets come with their own set piece bonuses. Crota’s End was the third and final reprised raid added to Destiny 2. Players must descend into the Hellmouth to fight Crota and Ir Yût.

Crota’s End: Loading Into the Raid

At the start of the raid, the game introduces you to the main mechanic of Crota’s End. The Chalice of Light is the buff that you pick up. The player who holds the Chalice has it charge up over time. Killing enemies around the Chalice hold decreases the time needed to reach full stacks. At full, the player gets a debuff called Engulfed in Light. The debuff lasts 10 seconds. Have a player take the buff from the Chalice player in that time. If successful, the original Chalice players become Enlightened. If they do not, the Chalice player dies at 10 seconds.

Enlightened allows you to do most mechanics in the raid. For the opening of the raid, becoming Enlightened allows you to interact with the plate to build the bridge. Further Enlightened buffs increase the speed of the build. Once you complete the bridge, head forward and down into the Abyss.

After a slow and long trip down to the Abyss, you reach the first encounter. The Chalice of Light returns for the encounter. Most of this encounter involves moving forward. There are two mechanics you need to do with the Chalice:

  • Using Enlightened on the Lamp
  • Depositing the Chalice into the podiums

Doing one of these mechanics resets the Engulfed in Darkness timer. The timer always starts at 60 seconds and resets for every Lamp Enlightened and podium deposited. The other mechanic is the Weight of Darkness debuff. Every stack decreases your move speed, and at 10 stacks, you can not double jump. Standing near an Enlightened Lamp removes your Weight stacks over time. Over a short duration, the Lamp explodes and kills any Guardians in its vicinity.

You do not need to enlighten every Lamp, but it is better to move as a group and enlighten them as you learn the path. What you do need to do is deposit at every podium. Each deposit lights up the next few lamps. The podiums are never in the same spot for each run. There are usually 3-5 Lamps between each podium. While you run, be careful of the swinging pendulums and holes, along with Hive enemies.

At the end of the path is a bridge. Use a couple of Enlightened buffs on the bridge plate to start building it. Deposit the Chalice at the podium once you have enough Enlightened players. Run over the bridge and through the now open door towards the second encounter.

Crota’s End: Crossing the Bridge

The Chalice of Light returns for this encounter. If you have run the King’s Fall raid or Pit of Heresy Dungeon, you will recognise the wipe totems. The difference for Crota’s End is that totems only become active when a player stands on the middle plate. If someone is standing on the middle plate, always have at least one player under each totem.

Pick up the Chalice to start the encounter. For the first two Enlightened buffs, have the first two players use it on the bridge to build it. Then, after that, pass the Chalice to every player to get Enlightened. The sixth player who gets the buff does not need Enlightened and should run across the bridge. They must deposit the Chalice in the podium on the other side of the bridge.

Throughout the encounter, there are Swordbearer Knights that spawn. Killing them drops a Sword. Only a player with an Enlightened buff can pick up a sword. Only players with a Sword or players holding the Chalice can cross the bridge. When you cross the bridge with a sword, a Gatekeeper Knight spawns. You can only damage these Knights with a sword. Kill the Knight and then deposit the Sword in one of the podiums.

Once the second Knight dies, there should be three players on that side of the bridge. Have them stand on the middle plate and under the totems. That allows the players on the first side to step off. Once five Knights die and you have deposited all the swords, have two players get Enlightened again. You can step off the plate and the totems after all players cross. After clearing enough enemies, more Gatekeeper Knights spawn. Kill the Knights again with the swords to clear the encounter.

Crota’s End: Reaching the Third Encounter

Pick up the Chalice and get a player Enlighthened. The Enlighthened player can cross the Hive barrier and kill the Shrieker. Every time you kill a Shrieker, the barrier drops. You need to get two Enlightened players. The third Chalice player should run quickly to deposit at the podium to access the secret chest in front of you.

Crota’s End: Ir Yût, the Deathsinger

Before the encounter starts, you need to assign players to specific roles.

  • Three players to become Enlightened and kill Wizards
  • One Scout
  • One Depositer

When you start the encounter, kill all the Hive enemies on the ground. Split into two groups of three, sending one to each side. Clear all the enemies until the Shrieker becomes vulnerable. Kill the Shrieker and remove the Hive barriers. Have the first Enlightened player pick up the Chalice and begin the rotation. The Scout will need to scout where the Hive Wizards are. For the first phase, there are three Wizards. There are seven potential spots for the Wizards. There are two in the left and right towers, and three above, where you find the Chalice. You can name the rooms however you want. For our team, we use directions:

  • Top left Tower
  • Top right Tower
  • Bottom left Tower
  • Bottom right Tower
  • Middle Left
  • Middle
  • Middle Right

The Scout can use Wish Ender’s truesight to find the Wizards. The Scout must call these out. Once you have three Enlightened players, have them stand in front of the doors until everyone is ready. The fourth Chalice player must deposit at the podium by the rally flag. Once the three players are ready, run through the Hive barrier and kill the Wizard. Killing a Wizard starts the Dark Liturgy timer. The timer can also start if you take too long. Once the third Wizard dies, Ir Yût becomes vulnerable. Group and deal damage to the boss. For each successive damage phase, there is one more Wizard. As a result:

  • Phase 1 – Three Wizards
  • Phase 2 – Four Wizards
  • Phase 3 – Five Wizards

Repeat until Ir Yût dies.

Crota’s End: Crota, Son of Oryx

The fourth encounter takes place in the same arena. Before you start the encounter, assign the roles again:

  • Two Enlightened Players for Swords
  • One Enlightened Player for the Oversoul
    • Have this player use Tractor Cannon
  • One Depositer

Have the first Enlightened player pick up the Chalice and begin charging. Clear the Hive enemies, especially the Knights in the towers. Killing the Knights spawns the Swordbearer Knights. Unlike every other encounter, you can not pick up the Chalice from a player at any place. There are beams of light in the arena. The position will change every time you use it. If you want to exchange the Chalice, both players must stand in the light.

The first player picks up the Sword. The Tractor Cannon player and Sword player approach Crota. Hit him with the Tractor and then the Sword player must use their super and Heavy attacks on the Sword to deal damage to Crota’s shield. After the third Enlightened player gets their buff, have the second player use their Sword on Crota. Once his shield breaks, the damage phase starts. Deal damage to Crota. If you do not reach the Final Stand bar and the Oversoul timer hits 3 seconds, the other Enlightened player must shoot it. Breaking the Oversoul ends the damage phase. Repeat until you reach the Final Stand.

Final Stand

Crota will become invulnerable for a brief period. Have everyone run away from Crota. He will eventually explode and become vulnerable again. The Oversoul timer returns for the Final Stand. If you have an Enlightened player, breaking the Oversoul gives you some extra time for the Final Stand. Kill Crota to finish the raid.
