Teamfight Tactics Set 18 Enchanted Wilds: All Five Cost Champions
Set 18: Enchanted Wilds for Teamfight Tactics is live. After a four-week PBE cycle, the set has had numerous patches. Players have had more time to figure out different compositions. They will inevitably find new compositions to run as the set evolves. For players heading into the set, we have information on the champions in Set 18. Five-cost champions are the capstone to most boards in any Teamfight Tactics Set.
Set 18: Five-cost Tanks

Maokai
Traits: Old Growth and Juggernaut
Maokai becomes stronger the earlier you field him. Old Growth grants him additional health based on takedowns. An early Maokai can become unkillable in the late game. He is the capstone tank to fast-9 boards. Fast-8 or reroll boards prefer other Juggernauts since Maokai needs to scale.
Taric
Traits: Emerald Aspect and Vanguard
Taric is a more common five-cost tank. Unlike Maokai, he does not need to scale. He also does not need Vanguard active to be effective. Taric is the secondary tank, helping the primary tank or melee carry. Emerald Aspect means Taric is generally weaker as a solo tank.
Set 18: Five-cost Melee Carries
Elder Dragon
Traits: Riftbeast and Apex Predator
Elder Dragon is a unique unit. It takes up two board slots, but also counts as two for the Riftbeast trait. Elder was the premier fast-9 board at the end of PBE. Draven has taken over since. Two-star Elder is a lethal threat. Unlike most AD melee carries, Elder wants pure damage. If positioned correctly, Elder can burn backlines before opponents even realise. Elder is the capstone to any Vertical Riftbeast boards.
Gnar
Traits: Elderwood, Sprykin, and Brawler
Gnar is a powerful late-game unit. The displacement he offers will impact fights. Gnar is also perfect for Thief’s Gloves. He can use most items and still be effective. Any composition that runs Brawler or Elderwood will look at Gnar as the capstone.
Kennen
Traits: Inferno and Executioner
Kennen terrorized the early parts of PBE. His damage was much higher than it should be. He could destroy a backline in seconds. At the same time, he survived through everything. Now his damage is lower, and he dies faster. His backline damage can alter fights if positioned correctly. He is another Thief’s Gloves user.
Set 18: Five-cost Caster Carries

Alune
Traits: Attuned, Lunar and Spellweaver
Alune is more flexible than most realise. The Durability enables boards to survive. Alune needs to ramp up in fights. If she casts the Moon, you will likely win the fight. Alune wants items like Spear of Shojin to cast often. She is the best Invoker unit. Alune does need another carry to buy her time to end the fight.
Ashe
Traits: Blossom and Hunter
Ashe is significantly weaker than on PBE release. She initially did more damage to backlines. However, Riot wants her to focus her damage on the frontline. She is still perfect for Red Buff and Last Whisper. Her Arrow will hit most of the board. Ashe is great with Sivir, Morgana, or Ahri. All three units want the additional damage to eliminate boards.
Ivern
Traits: Greenfather
Ivern is an interesting unit. Every cast and combat, Ivern generates seeds. These seeds allow him to alter hexes on your board. The earlier you hit Ivern, the better. If Ivern alters every hex, he grants a unique effect to your board. Ivern is a good flex five-cost. Ivern does not want damage; he wants to cast more than not.
Lux
Traits: Avatar
Avatar allows any of the nine Lux variations to appear in your shop. After you purchase one, that version will appear in your shops. Each Lux grants two to her designated trait and has a different passive. Lux is a good capstone to most boards. Either look for a Lux that bolsters your current traits. Or you can add Primal, Lunar, Inferno, or Blackthorn Lux for flexibility.
Set 18: Five-cost Marksmen
Draven
Traits: Bounty Seeker
Draven is the only five-cost marksman. Draven is unique for two reasons. Draven has Fishbones targeting, meaning he can target any unit within his auto-attack range. Draven’s trait gives you three quests to choose from. Each quest completion grants a reward. These quests are Draven-specific. Even though Draven casts, most of his damage comes from his auto-attacks. That makes Deathblade a better item than Infinity Edge.
