T1 against Gen.G Esports is a fabled matchup in the LCK. For many years, they have been the best teams in Korea. However, Hanwha Life Esports has risen to the occasion recently. As a result, the two must face off for the final LCK spot at the Mid-Season Invitational. Gen.G might not have a chance to defend their MSI title this year.

Faker Versus Chovy

A battle that has become synonymous with the LCK and League of Legends in general. Faker versus Chovy is a historic rivalry that continues to deliver. Chovy was pivotal to Gen’G’s sweep over KT Rolster yesterday. Faker will need to be at his best to contend with Chovy. Faker has done it before, and he can do it again. Faker will be vital to unlock his bot lane, who had a quieter series than in recent times against Hanwha Life Esports.

Oner Faltered Against HLE

Oner had one of his rare bad performances against HLE. The team lives by Oner. Even if he is not always the standout, when he plays well, the team performs significantly better. He usually responds well after a bad performance. T1 will need him back at his best if they want to qualify for MSI. Gen.G might target him, as they have in the past. Canyon is notorious for taking enemy junglers out of the game. Early pathing and wards could be the difference maker in how Oner performs in the series.

Regardless of who wins tomorrow, it will be the first time in five years that one of these two teams does not play at MSI. They were the finalists in the 2025 edition. Gen.G is also the back-to-back defending champions, looking for a third successive title. T1 earned their third straight World Championship last year, and Gen.G will want to keep up with them in some regard. Having missed out on First Stand, T1 will want to be at their first international event of the year.

T1 Versus Gen.G Esports Prediction

Prediction: Gen.G 3-2

Given their recent matches, the edge has to go to Gen.G. While they had the easier matchup, they looked more confident in their gameplay. They struggled in the first game, but took control for the rest of the series. For T1, they did not play with the same control as they had for most of Round 2. Gen.G usually wins against T1 in the LCK. However, the series could go either way. If T1 takes their learnings from the HLE and Oner returns to form, they might rise above Gen.G. Regardless, the series should be another battle for the ages between these two teams.

Both Teams at EWC

Regardless of who loses tomorrow, they will return before the start of LCK Round 3. Gen.G qualified for EWC after winning the tournament last year, and T1 finished in first place during the qualifying stage. Either team could go on to win MSI and EWC, despite their weaker performances in the LCK Regular Season. The winner will join Hanwha Life Esports at MSI in Korea to represent their nation.
