Marvel Phase 7: 3 MCU Films After “Avengers: Secret Wars” You Need To Know
Marvel Studios has announced three movies scheduled for release after “Avengers: Secret Wars,” giving fans an early look at what’s coming for Marvel Phase 7 after the Multiverse Saga. The franchise has given fans a taste of its big plans for Phase 7, pulling back the curtain with reveals at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25 and at Disney’s D23 Expo on Aug. 14. There is also momentum from the success of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” with Tom Holland reprising his role as the web-slinger.
New Dates For Marvel Phase 7 Coming After “Avengers: Secret Wars”
The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit revealed on his X account that Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider will debut in the MCU in theaters on July 28, 2028. He also reiterated the already confirmed release dates for the MCU’s “X-Men” reboot and “Black Panther 3.” On Aug. 17, he posted on X, “With X-MEN to open 5/5/28, that makes it 3 mighty Marvel movies in 2028.” Just a minute later, Kit posted, Release date news: GHOST RIDER to hit theatres 7/28/28. BLACK PANTHER 3 coming on 12/15/28.” The schedule makes 2028 a busy slate for the studio after “Avengers: Secret Wars.” This year in the theatrical department, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” was released in theaters on July 31.
On Dec. 18, fans will see the long-awaited team-up since “Avengers: Endgame” with “Avengers: Doomsday,” and Robert Downey Jr. will return to the MCU and play the new big bad, Doctor Doom. The film features an ensemble core of heroes including the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the Wakandans, and the X-Men. Some cast members of the original Fox “X-Men” trilogy will reprise their roles as their respective mutant characters. There are also cast members appearing in the film that have not been officially announced yet. “Avengers: Secret Wars” is the only 2027 theatrical film the studio will release.

Projects To Come After “Avengers: Secret Wars”
After “Avengers: Secret Wars,” fans will finally see the long-awaited “X-Men” reboot in the MCU. “Thunderbolts/The New Avengers” director Jake Schreier will take charge of the reboot, which hits theaters on May 5, 2028. The release date was first announced at the studio’s presentation at D23, which revealed the initial cast lineup that will appear with Sadie Sink, who already made her debut in the MCU as Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
Kit Connor was confirmed to be the MCU’s new Cyclops, with Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, and Inde Navarrette as Rogue. The lineup introduced is not the full cast. The grand reveal was Adam Driver revealing that he will be playing Mister Sinister. In 2025, the studio released “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts/New Avengers,” and “Fantastic Four: First Steps” in theaters. Ryan Gosling made a huge surprise at Marvel’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, 2026, to unveil his film “Ghost Rider.”
Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider Movie Gets a 2028 Release Date
The film will hit theaters on July 28, 2028, and he will reunite with Shawn Levy, whom he’s working with to make “Star Wars: Starfighter.” That movie will be released on May 28, 2027. On stage, Gosling shared how elated he was about finally playing the character. Per Marvel, Gosling said to the crowd, “Wow, is this really happening? As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time.”
The MCU’s version of the “Ghost Rider” film will be the first movie since Nicolas Cage’s “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” from Feb. 17, 2012. It remains to be seen what path the studio takes with the reboot. “Black Panther 3” received its official release date at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con: Dec. 15, 2028. Ryan Coogler brought out “The Long Walk” star David Jonsson on stage. Coogler introduced Jonsson as the new Black Panther. Jonsson will play T’Challa II, the son of the late Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa.
T’Challa II was first introduced to Shuri as a boy by Nakia at the end of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Letitia Wright and Winston Duke are set to reprise their roles as Shuri and M’Baku, respectively, in “Black Panther 3,” but they will first have to deal with Doctor Doom in “Avengers: Doomsday” this December.
With recent film announcements, Marvel Studios is gearing up to tell fresh stories for Phase 7 after the next two “Avengers” films. “Avengers: Secret Wars” is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 17, 2027.
