“X-Men” Reboot Star, Inde Navarrette Reportedly Turned Down “Heat 2” To Commit To Marvel

Inde Navarrette To Play Rogue In “X-Men” Reboot
Page Six Hollywood first reported that Navarrette is fully on board with Marvel. She was reportedly eyed to star in “Heat 2,” the prequel-sequel to Michael Mann’s crime drama that is set to begin filming in the fall. She had apparently been wooed to play Charlene Shiherlis, a role originally played by Ashley Judd in the 1995 film. When Navarrete was announced as part of the “X-Men” initial cast at D23, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said, per Page Six, “They (the cast) just met backstage for the very first time.”
In addition, Page Six Hollywood reported that Navarrette had also turned down a role in a horror project being led by Matthias Hoene and would have reportedly been paid $2.5 million for the role had she taken it. When speaking with Nylon, Navarrette said she wanted to expand to new genres and not be limited to just her breakout role in “Obsession.” Navarrette told Nylon, “This is something that I really love and want to continue doing, but of course that’s going to take time. I want people to take that time to trust that I have that capability. I also want to fall on my face publicly and have something that people don’t like, but maybe I do.”
Navarrette was confirmed to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Rogue at the D23 Marvel presentation on Friday, Aug.14. Marvel Studios announced the initial cast lineup along with Sadie Sink, who is the MCU’s Jean Grey, at the presentation. The cast for the “X-Men” reboot also includes Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Kit Connor as Cyclops, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver announced in a surprise video that he was going to take on the role of the villainous Mr. Sinister.

The X-Men Will Go Through Another Cast Makeover
Some of the original Fox “X-Men” members were confirmed to be reprising their roles in this holiday’s “Avengers: Doomsday,” where they will collaborate with the MCU to fight against Dr. Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The original stars confirmed to reprise their Fox “X-Men” roles are Patrick Stewart as Professor X, James Marsden as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and Ian McKellen as Magneto.
Hugh Jackman, who has played Wolverine, was not announced in the chair casting reveal back in March 2025, but speculation has swirled online that he will appear in the movie. There have been speculations about whether Famke Janssen and Halle Berry, who played Jean Grey and Storm, respectively, will reprise their Fox “X-Men” roles in “Avengers: Doomsday,” though both stars have publicly denied returning to their respective characters.
It has not been confirmed or denied by Marvel whether Jackman will appear in “Avengers: Doomsday” or not. He did make a special screen appearance at Marvel’s D23 presentation on Friday, Aug. 14, with voiceover from Ryan Reynolds. During the presentation, Feige added that the reboot casting announcement on stage wasn’t the full lineup. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduced the mutants in 1963, including Professor X, Cyclops, Beast, Angel, Jean Grey, and Iceman, who went against Magneto in their debut comic series. The new “X-Men” reboot is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
