Daily Devotional Tuesday Thoughts | September 15, 2026
It’s Tuesday and time for your daily devotional. Psalm 121 is well known in the Song of Degrees group. Attributed to David, this psalm reveals God as your Source of protection like none other. When you put your trust in Him, He takes care of you. In today’s daily devotional, don’t look to anything else on earth; there’s no god like your God.
God is Your Help
This psalm was sung by the Israelites who traveled to Jerusalem each year. It praises their great King as the strength of their life. Verse 1 proclaims, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” There’s no question mark at the end of this verse; however, in its original language, it asks a question.
Are the hills where your help comes from? In your daily devotional, David knew where his help came from: not from the hills but from God who created the hills. Don’t trust in the natural realm. God is your ultimate help.
True and Living God
In verse 2, he answers his own query: “My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Your God created Heaven and earth. No other god has that distinction. From expansive mountain ranges to lofty hills and lush valleys, God is the maker of them all. Because God is the true and living God, the Creator of Heaven and earth, everything is subject to Him.
David knew what it felt like to be an object of the king’s murderous intent. Saul chased him for ten years, determined to kill David because he feared he would take the throne. In this daily devotional, like David, you stay under God’s watchful eye of protection. He keeps you safe from harm.
His Protective Power
David lists characteristics of God that reveal His protective power. He won’t suffer your foot to be moved. In other words, God is with you through hardships, tests and trials. He doesn’t sleep. You don’t have to worry about God being too tired to watch over you or abandoning you to sleep. He watches over you consistently. There’s never a time when you’re out of His presence. He is your Keeper or Protector. He shields you from hazards both day and night.
God protected the Israelites throughout their travels; as they went up to Jerusalem, God was there, protecting them on their journey. In your daily devotional, God is your only source of protection, and He is all you need.
He Preserves Your Soul
Verse 7 promises God will preserve you, meaning He will guard your life. You are safe and secure in Him. The enemy can’t pluck you out of His hand. God preserves you from evil, and He preserves your very soul. God made man a living soul, and He faithfully sustains him by His power. God watches over your coming and going.
He protects you from dangers seen and unseen. You’re completely safe under God’s watchful eye, and you’re secure in Him. His protection isn’t temporary; it’s eternal. In this daily devotional, God’s protection is minute by minute, day by day, season to season, and generation to generation.
Your Help Comes From God Alone
In Tuesday’s daily devotional, it’s easy to see there’s no God like your God. David hid in caves of craggy mountains and sought refuge in lofty hills, but He knew his help didn’t come from natural surroundings. His help came from God. In today’s daily devotional, your help comes from God alone.
