Overwatch’s Newest Hero Revealed at BlizzCon 2026 Doctrine Ages Like Fine Wine
At BlizzCon, Overwatch revealed the newest hero. Doctrine is the first Support hero released since the two released in Season 1. He is a friend of Doomfist, whom the latter broke out of captivity. Doomfist was not alone; Sombra, Reaper, and Widowmaker helped him. He is available for a hero trial now for the next two days. We highly recommend you play him before he goes away.
Doctrine’s Introduction
Doctrine’s initial reveal came in the Breakout Hero Trailer. Doomfist and co. broke him out of captivity. He appeared as a frail man. He is more youthful than most of the Overwatch cast after reacquainting himself with his powers. He is an old friend of Doomfist, whom he has saved to help retake Talon from Vendetta’s clutches.
Doctrine’s Kit Breakdown

His subrole passive is Survivor. Using Shrouded Momentum begins passive health regeneration. He can infuse most of his abilities to increase their effects.
Eternal Scepter – Primary Fire
Mid-range weapon that heals allies and damages enemies. Infuse the Eternal Scepter to fire a larger piercing blast.
The piercing blast goes through allies. You can heal multiple allies or deal damage to enemies.
Infuse – Secondary Fire
Add a powerful effect to your next ability.
Infuse has two charges, which regenerate over time. Depending on preference, you can choose between toggle and hold. By default, it is set to hold.
Shrouded Momentum – Ability 1
Rush horizontally with damage reduction. Infuse Shrouded Momentum to gain free-flight.
He gains 50% damage reduction in Shrouded Momentum. Infusing also increases the movement speed gained.
Invigorating Drones – Ability 2
Deploy drones to an ally, granting them attack speed and healing. Infuse Invigorating Drones to apply the drones to yourself.
The attack speed steroid significantly increases damage output. Consider if you want to use Invigorating Drones for the healing or to buff your allies.
Deliverance – Ultimate
Launch a swarm of drones that reduces maximum health and grants allies overhealth.
Each drone tick reduces maximum health, up to 50%. The reduction lasts for eight seconds. Any character with a cleanse can neutralize the effect.
Doctrine’s Hero Perks

Relying on Decision Making
At first glance, his kit is not complicated. Every ability does what it says. Usually, for heroes with simpler kits, their decision-making becomes key. Doctrine is no different. His Infuse is a powerful ability. Knowing which ability to empower at a moment is vital. Do you want to escape with free-flight? Do you need to heal yourself? Or do you want to deal more damage? Ask yourself these questions while playing.
Hero Trial and Official Release

Doctrine is available to play as part of his hero trial. It is the first hero trial since Anran, before the start of Reign of Talon. He became available after Overwatch completed their segment during the BlizzCon Opening Ceremony. The hero trial ends on Tuesday, September 15th at 11:00 AM PDT (8:00 PM CEST).
He will release at the same time as Season 5. The release date is October 6th, just under a month away.
