Overwatch Season 5 Hero Guide: Infuse Your Allies With Power As Doctrine
Doctrine’s hero trial in Overwatch is over. We, along with many others, played him before he left us for a moment. Doctrine returns to Overwatch in Season 5, launching on October 6th. Doctrine’s kit is fairly simple. However, the difficulty comes when you need to decide how to use it. He has a versatile kit, and we are here to help you better understand how to use it.
Doctrine Kit Breakdown and Tips

Eternal Scepter – Mid-range weapon that heals allies and damages enemies. Infuse the Eternal Scepter to fire a larger piercing blast.
Eternal Scepter is your primary source of healing and damage. It will also be the ability that you infuse the most. Look out for any opportunity to deal damage. Any damage you land on opponents will cause pressure.
Infuse – Add a powerful effect to your next ability.
Infuse has two charges, which regenerate over time.
Always keep track of your Infuse cooldown. Ensure you have at least one Infuse available at a time. Infuse is a powerful tool that you should use whenever you get the chance.
Shrouded Momentum – Rush horizontally with damage reduction. Infuse Shrouded Momentum to gain free-flight.
You gain 50% damage reduction while in Shrouded Momentum. You can use Shrouded Momentum in many ways. Use it to escape, close the gap with your team, or take high ground with Infuse. Using Shrouded Momentum triggers the Survivor Subrole passive healing.
Invigorating Drones – Deploy drones to an ally, granting them attack speed and healing. Infuse Invigorating Drones to apply the drones to yourself.
Invigorating Drones is great for two reasons. It increases your ally’s damage output and heals them. It lets you focus your primary fire on other allies or enemies. The attack speed is strong. Give it to your allies to guarantee kills.
Deliverance – Launch a swarm of drones that reduces maximum health and grants allies overhealth.
Deliverance is a powerful ultimate. Any reduction on an enemy increases the chances of killing them. The Overhealth helps your teammates. Ideally, use Deliverance on a group of teammates and enemies. Targeting enemy tanks is perfect to reduce their effectiveness in fights.

Infusing Your Powers

Droning For Attack Speed
The drone healing is significant. But instead, use Invigorating Drones to buff an ally. The attack speed granted will increase your ally’s lethality. They can take more aggressive angles because of the increased damage and healing. You can focus more on the rest of the map than on your ally. They should not need healing unless someone pressures them. In that case, the rest of your team will have more space to do what they want.
Consider Every Infuse Option
As you learn Doctrine, always think about what you could use Infuse for. Do you need Infuse to escape a dive? Do you need it for healing and increased attack speed? Or maybe it is better to Infuse your primary fire for damage or healing. Keep in mind that infusing the primary fire grants it piercing. You can hit multiple enemies or allies if you position yourself well.
Stay Proactive
Do not wait for an opportunity to pressure enemies. Play proactively with the Invigorating Drones to allow your allies to be aggressive. Take aggressive angles to look for damage with Eternal Scepter. Shrouded Momentum gives you a potential escape. If you kill your opponents, or at least pressure them, they can not target your teammates.
