KT Rolster had a difficult task in trying to bring down Gen.G Esports in the LCK Road to MSI. They had done it before, and they started well. However, they tailed off after game one and struggled to match up. Chovy was on fire throughout the series. Gen.G will now face T1 in the final match of the LCK Road to MSI.

Game One – Chovy and Ruler Hold Strong

KT gets out to an early lead in the first game of the series. Their aggressive plays with Effort on Camille pay off. Gen.G struggles to contend, and they all die on the Ocean Soul point. Gen.G manages to stay in the game, mainly thanks to Chovy. His consistent pressure and picks prevent KT from ever getting a clean fight. He is also responsible for killing Effort multiple times to claw their way back. Ruler joins the party and fights back against the poke from Aiming and PerfecT. Gen.G narrowly secures Baron, and that becomes the catalyst to secure their comeback.

With a 7k gold Baron power play, they have their first lead of the series. The game stalls out until the second Baron. KT sends all their members to kill Canyon and Kiin, but Chovy and Ruler push the base to the end.

Game Two – Kiin and Canyon Stand Up

KT’s game plan in the early and mid-game is diving the side lanes. However, Gen.G’s solo laners are ready for it. Kiin survives long enough on the first one to trade a kill back. Chovy dies multiple times, but he forces KT to invest extra resources to kill him. Gen.G fights back with Kiin and Canyon, allowing time for Ruler to scale and Chovy to become relevant. Despite being put behind, Chovy finds the engagement angles time and time again. KT invests most of their resources to kill Duro, but it backfires. Without their dive options, Ruler is safe to free hit. Gen.G basically wins the final fight 3v5 to end the game.

Game Three – A Shaky Ending

Very little action happens in the early game. Gen.G gets the First Blood kill, but it does not move the needle. Canyon steals away the third Drake to deny the Drake stacking. Bdd chases Chovy, but he barely lives, and Bdd dies in the ensuing play. KT falls behind because of a couple of facechecks, but regains their footing with a fight win on the next Drake. Gen.G returns to ascendancy thanks to a multi-stage engagement. With Mountain Soul, Gen.G secures Baron and looks for the chase. They overchase into Bdd, losing two members and the Elder Drake. Gen.G stalls the Elder. Chovy finds the engagement, and the series ends.

Chovy is On Fire

As expected, Gen.G started slow in the series. They were not ready for KT’s aggression in the first game. They should have lost if not for KT’s mistakes and heroics from Chovy. The Gen.G midlaner was at top form in this series. Even when KT targeted him, he still garnered value for his team. His Lissandra was also the linchpin in securing a lead and inevitably found the angle to end the series.
