Aston Martin will not launch its first EV until 2033 to 2035, CEO Adrian Hallmark said Friday, pushing back the brand’s electric plans again, according to Motor1. Hallmark also said V8 and V12 engines will stay in the lineup through 2035.

Aston Martin first EV timeline slips again

Hallmark would not name an exact year for the Aston Martin first EV. “It could be 2035, it might be 2033, but it’s in that three-year window. It’s not 2031,” he said.

The date has moved repeatedly. The plan was once for an earlier launch, and the target reached 2027 under previous management, according to Electric Vehicles. Hallmark, who joined from Bentley in September 2024, floated 2030 in early 2025 before the latest delay.

Hallmark described the company as a “BEV delayer” rather than a “BEV denier.” Aston Martin expects to remain mostly combustion-powered until 2035.

Lucid deal and cost cuts

Aston Martin has a technology supply deal with Lucid that is tied to the Aston Martin first EV for electric hardware. Because of the delay, Hallmark said, the technology Aston Martin eventually receives will differ from what the original contract covered.

The company also cut up to 20 percent of its workforce, about 3,000 employees at the time, in February, citing U.S. import tariffs and weak demand in China. It trimmed its five-year capital spending plan to 1.7 billion pounds from 2 billion pounds, delaying electric vehicle investment, according to a Reuters report.

The company has not named a specific year for the Aston Martin first EV beyond that window.
