Toyota announced the 2027 Grand Highlander Woodland Edition on Oct. 1, a new trim of its three-row SUV with a small lift, all-terrain tires and camping-friendly gear, according to Toyota’s newsroom.

The Woodland Edition comes standard with the 2.5-liter hybrid system and all-wheel drive, which Toyota rates at 245 horsepower total. That is below the 362 horsepower of the Hybrid Max version.

Toyota said the combination of all-terrain tires and taller springs adds half an inch of ground clearance. The tires ride on matte black 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the trim adds a removable second-row cooler that holds up to six 12-ounce cans. The cargo area gets a Woodland-branded tray with pop-up dividers and added lighting, and the SUV comes with all-weather floor mats that carry the Woodland logo. Motor1 also reported the cooler and cargo tray details.

Towing and the rest of the lineup

Hybrid grades, including the Woodland Edition, are rated to tow 3,500 pounds, Toyota said. The gas and Hybrid Max models are rated at 5,000 pounds. Toyota lists five grades across the Grand Highlander range: LE, XLE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum.

The lift is modest, so the Grand Highlander Woodland Edition is aimed at gravel roads and campsites rather than heavy off-roading. For other recent SUV news, see our stories on the Toyota Century SUV and the Range Rover Sport Electric.

Price and availability

Toyota said it expects the Woodland Edition to reach dealers later this year. Woodland pricing has not been announced. The automaker said gas models start at $42,560, and hybrid models start at $45,910 for the LE grade, before dealer fees. Fans of EV news can also read about the Mazda Changan EV lineup.
