Destiny 2 Pantheon 2.0: Morgeth Surpassing Guide
Pantheon returns in Destiny 2 with the Monument of Triumph update. There are three versions of Pantheon that you can run: Calus Resplendid, Morgeth Surpassing, and Insurrection Prime Revolutionary. The first two contain three different Destiny 2 bosses. The final one has all the bosses from the first two variants and adds in Insurrection Prime. In this article, we will examine Morgeth Surpassing. It reinvents three current Destiny 2 boss encounters and includes mechanics from the rest of the raid.
Destiny 2: Warpriest

The Warpriest encounter combines the mechanics from it and the Totems encounter. Split your team into two groups of three, as you would for Totems. Have the first two players grab the Brand buff and run to the totems. Killing enemies grants you Deathsinger stacks. The position of the Wizard and Blightguard changes for this version. Instead of being on the upper platforms, they are in the Warpriest arena, by each side plate. Grab the Brand claimer and run back to the totem. Trade the buffs. Players with Deathsinger’s Power must now deposit their stacks on one of the Warpriest plates. Always ensure that you deposit all stacks before moving to grab the Brand claimer.
Repeat until you have deposited enough stacks. Have everyone group up near the glowing red plate. Two Blightguards spawn. After killing them, they drop another Brand buff. Have the players with Deathsinger’s Power pick up the Brands; the reason will become important in a moment. Have one of the other players stand on the plate to get Brand of the Initiate. It will have 15 stacks and tick down. You can deal damage to the boss if you are in the bubble during this time.
The Brand player with the most Deathsinger stacks must claim the Brand from the plate player when the stacks drop to one. The other Brand player can kill some enemies around the arena to increase their stacks. Once the other Brand player’s stacks reach one, grab it from him. The damage phase lasts until one of two aspects happens. Either you lose all your stacks, or the Warpriest grows tired. When this happens, jump behind the pillar. Repeat until Warpriest dies. Grab your loot and head to the next encounter.
Destiny 2: Consecrated Mind, Sol Inherent

The Consecrated Mind encounter combines the mechanics from it and the encounter to summon the Consecrated Mind. The four pylons return. However, there is an additional pylon in the middle of the arena. Usually, the walls are up, preventing you from reaching the middle. For the entire encounter, there are no walls. Each player will need to defend their pylon as per usual. That includes a fifth player in the middle. We number the pylons as follows:
- Starting Pylon = 1
- Left Pylon = 2
- Opposite Side Pylon = 3
- Right Pylon = 4
- Middle Pylon = 5
At the start of the encounter, you can split your team how you want. The way we chose to do it is:
- Players one and six stay at pylon 1
- They kill the Angelic and tether to the box
- Players two and five run to pylon 4
- They kill the Angelic and tether to the box
- Players three and four run to pylon 2
- They kill the Angelic and tether to the box
- After players five and six tether, they run to pylon 5
- Clear out the handful of Vex enemies before tethering
- Player six runs to Pylon 3 to tether with player four
- Now all portals are open
The usual portals are open, in addition to four in the middle. Each middle portal takes you to one of the outer pylons. Player six becomes the runner for the rest of the encounter, while the other players defend. There is another new mechanic for this encounter: the global tether. If players connect to their boxes while players five and six tether in the middle, it will give the Enlightened buff to everyone connected to their box. You can do this regularly to refresh Enlightened.
Periodically, the Consecrated Mind will move to one of the pylons. Here, it does its Voltaic Overflow mechanic. Players must grab the Overflow and be ready to shoot eyes. The eyes work the same as the normal Consecrated Mind encounter. At this time, the runner can help shoot eyes if players need it. After picking up Overflow, players will get the debuff timer. During this time, we recommend you do not join the global tether. The boss deals significant damage, and no shielded Vex is spawning until after you break eyes. After breaking eyes, you can global buff, or the runner and defender can tether.
Malignant Hobgoblins will also find their way to the outer pylons. These Hobgoblins have more health, but do not try to integrate. Kill them to drop five Voltaic motes. You can do one of two things:
- Have the runner pick up the motes
- Have the defender pick up the motes, and the runner takes their place momentarily
Either way, the player who picks up the motes must take a portal to the middle and deposit them at pylon 5. You need roughly 30 motes to start the damage phase. Any integrations increase the number of motes needed. After you have enough motes, text appears on your screen, and the Consecrated Mind returns to pylon 5. Break its eyes and damage starts. Follow the boss as per usual while dealing damage. If Concecrated Mind does not fall initially, repeat until it does. The encounter does drag on, but remain patient. Calm execution, clear comms, and patience will help to guarantee that you clear. After killing Consecrated Mind, grab your loot and head to the final boss.
Destiny 2: Morgeth, the Spirekeeper
The Morgeth encounter combines three encounter mechanics in one: Morgeth, Vault, and Queenswalk. There is a handful of roles that you must assign to players. While it is not required, it will make your life easier:
- Three players to pick up two Taken Strength
- Three players to pick up the Taken Essence and cleanse trapped players
The encounter starts as normal. Pick up the first Strength to start the encounter. The player who picks it up must be the first player to get two stacks. Morgeth will gain Strength throughout the encounter. Every player’s death gives Morgeth Strength. After a short duration, Morgeth traps that player. Have a Taken Essence player cleanse them. You must use your Grenade button near them to cleanse.
When this happens, the two players teleport into Riven’s Heart. On the outside, two symbols spawn behind Morgeth. Call them out for the Heart players. The essence player can see symbols above the Taken Strength inside the Heart. You must guide the other player to interact with the Strength that has symbols, which was not called. For example:
- Outside calls Infinity Snake and Dragon Breathing Fire to the Right
- Inside are those two symbols, Bird on a Branch looking left and Dragon with a Pole through its Neck
- The Essence player must direct their teammate to the second two symbols
The reason is that the Essence player should have two Taken Strength. Picking up any additional Strength kills the player. If each player has one Strength, then they must take one each.
While this is happening, the second Taken Strength player must pick up their two. Repeat the same process for that player. Free them, and the players arrive in Riven’s Heart. A second set of symbols spawns in the main arena. The first set stays the same. Have the Essence player identify the missing ones and pick those up. After the third team cleanses, they will teleport directly into the Heart, and Morgeth joins them.
Before you pick up the final Strength, have a player without Essence find Riven’s Eye. Kill it and pick up the Strength. The damage phase starts, and Morgeth’s Strength continues to build. If you do not reach the Final Stand threshold, have one player pick up the Taken Essence and use their Super button to stun Morgeth. You will return to the main arena. Repeat until you reach the Final Stand.
Final Stand
A portal spawns in the middle of Riven’s Heart. Have everyone gather ammo and jump into the portal. You must now traverse the pre-Morgeth jumping puzzle to reach the other side. More Taken Strength spawn, have everyone pick up Strength, and start the Final Stand damage phase. Be as quick as possible, have as much time as possible to kill Moregeth in Destiny 2.
