Daily Devotional Friday Faith | June 5, 2026

In dailyl devotional, a Bible is open to Matthew.

Happy Friday! It’s time for your daily devotional. After Jesus fed the multitude with loaves and fish, He sent His disciples away by boat to go to the other side. Afterwards, He began sending the multitude away. Then He was alone with the Father. In today’s daily devotional, Jesus is your example of the importance of spending time in prayer.

Spend Time in Prayer

The Apostle John records that Jesus constrained the disciples to leave, for the people wanted to make Him a King because of the loaves, and wouldn’t depart while they were there. Matthew 14:23 says, “And when he had sent the multitude away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening came, he was there alone.” Jesus’ cousin and forerunner was now gone. John had prepared the way for Jesus’ ministry and identified Him as the Lamb of God, baptizing Him in the River Jordan.

Identifying himself as the friend of the Bridegroom, he told the Jews, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” At the news of John’s death, Jesus sought solitude, but the crowds followed Him. Then He ministered to them. Now alone, He went high into a mountain, for Jesus often sought solitary places to be alone in prayer. In your daily devotional, to walk in power, you must first spend time in prayer.

Be Not Afraid

While Jesus was praying, the disciples were sailing to the other side as He’d commanded. Then a severe storm tossed the ship. Jesus knew they were in peril, so He went to them, walking on the water. Not recognizing Him, they were afraid, thinking He was a ghost. Jesus answered, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” Peter wanted to walk with Jesus on the water, so Jesus called Him forth.

Although Peter started walking, he feared the crashing waves and began to sink. Then Jesus rescued Him, saying, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” In this daily devotional, trust the One who can walk on water, for there is nothing impossible to Him.

You are Healed

As soon as they entered the ship, the storm ceased. At this powerful moment, the disciples began worshipping Jesus, saying, “Of a truth thou art the Son of God.” The disciples recognized Jesus’ authority, and without doubt, knew He was the Messiah. They then reached Gennesaret, for they had obeyed Jesus’ word to go forward. Upon hearing of Jesus’ arrival, those from the region began bringing sick people to Him.

Verse 36 says they “besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.” Perhaps they’d heard about the woman with the issue of blood who touched Jesus’ hem. In today’s daily devotional, bring your faith to the Healer, for Jesus was anointed to heal the sick. His anointing breaks every yoke, and today, with His stripes, you are healed.

Trust Jesus to Bring You Out of the Storm

In Friday’s daily devotional, obey the Lord even if it leads you into a storm. Trust He’ll bring you out. John the Baptist also faced a storm while fulfilling his assignment. Minister Nancy Dufresne said that John was also Jesus’ forerunner in Paradise, announcing to those there that Jesus was coming. In today’s daily devotional, your prayer life will determine the power you have. Jesus gives an example of spending time alone in God’s presence. So whatever you face, you’ll have power to press through and overcome.
