Daily Devotional Motivation Monday | April 27, 2026

In daily devotional, a man is seen reading the Bible in a Bible perhaps in a study group.

Happy Monday! It’s time for your daily devotional. When John was exiled to Patmos, he was the last of the twelve disciples. Sources, including Tertullian, an early church theologian and historian, record that the Romans attempted to martyr John by boiling him in hot oil. However, the Lord miraculously saved him. In today’s daily devotional, trust God for deliverance and revelation.

He is Good to You

John records in his gospel the powerful “I AM” statements Jesus spoke, revealing His purpose on earth. Jesus declared He is the Bread of Life; the Light of the World; the Door; the Good Shepherd; the Resurrection and the Life; the Way, the Truth, and the Life; and the True Vine.

These statements are great comfort, as Jesus nourishes you spiritually, guides you into truth, and is the only way to salvation. He also protects and cares for you, gives you eternal life, and is the pathway to God. And to grow spiritually, you must abide in Him. In your daily devotional, take time to go over the “I AM” statements, as they remind you of how good Jesus is to you.

A Revelation of Christ

When Roman authorities couldn’t kill John, they banished him to the Isle of Patmos. While there, John is “in the Spirit on the Lord’s day,” when he hears a voice that sounds like a trumpet. Turning around, John sees Jesus in the midst of seven candlesticks. He describes the resurrected Christ as having white, wool-like hair, with eyes aflame, feet like brass, and a voice as many waters.

No doubt, John recognizes “I AM” as God’s name with which Jesus identifies Himself. In verse 11, Jesus says, ”I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last.” In this daily devotional, in every realm, on Earth or in Heaven, Jesus is “I AM.”

He is Alive Forevermore

In verse 16, John sees Jesus holding seven stars in His right hand, and a sharp two-edged sword proceeds from His mouth as He shines like the sun in its full strength. In verse 17, upon seeing Him, John falls at His feet, as Jesus responds consolingly: “Fear not; I am the first and the last.” Jesus continues identifying Himself in verse 18: “I am alive forevermore,” revealing He was dead and now lives, having the keys to hell and death.

Jesus uses His divine name “I AM,” as He affirms He is the resurrected Christ who overcame death and hell, defeating Satan’s power. In today’s daily devotional, as the Great I Am, Jesus cannot be defeated on Earth or in hell, for He is Lord of all.

Deep and Secret Things

In verse 19, Jesus instructs John to write down what he sees, as John would be shown the end times to warn the churches of what is to come. Jesus reveals mysteries, as Daniel 2:22 says, “He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.” In your daily devotional, the secret things belong to the Lord, yet He reveals many of them to you.

Jesus is Faithful and True to You

In Monday’s daily devotional, Jesus reveals to John in verse 20 that the stars represent the angels or leaders of the seven churches and the candlesticks represent the seven churches he is to write. The “I AM” is faithful and true. In today’s daily devotional, Amos 3:7 proclaims that the Lord does nothing without revealing it to His servants. Trust Jesus’ divine revelations to you.
