Inde Navarrette is looking forward to the stunt work that comes with playing Rogue in Marvel Studios‘ “X-Men” MCU reboot. The actress spoke about the part at the Newport Beach Film Festival, where she also discussed her admiration for Anna Paquin, who played the character in the Fox films, and her excitement about joining the franchise.

What Inde Navarrette Said About Playing Rogue

Navarrette made her statements on the carpet at the festival’s Honors event on Sunday, Oct. 18, where she was celebrated as one of Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch. Speaking with Variety’s Marc Malkin, she called the opportunity to play Rogue an honor and said she’s a big fan of the character. She said, as reported by Variety, “I am just so excited to be a part of that world, and it’s an honor to play Rogue. I’m a really big fan.”

Navarrette also addressed whether she has spoken with Anna Paquin about playing the character. She hasn’t corresponded with Paquin directly, but she said, “I feel like the correspondence started when I was younger, when I really fell in love with the ‘X-Men’ movies in the first place. I just feel like she did such a good job, and I really loved those movies growing up. And I’m really honored to kind of put forth this next moment.”

When discussing stunt training during the festival, the actress said, “I’ve always wanted to take part in that sort of a thing. I think it’s also a really good excuse to get in the gym. I’m the laziest person, and I am very excited to get up and move my body.” She added, “I think it’s just a beautiful project.”

Navarrette’s credits include “Superman & Lois” and the horror hit “Obsession,” which has been a huge success. She is one of several actors cast in the untitled film, and Marvel Studios has been putting together its ensemble for the reboot as the Marvel Cinematic Universe prepares to build its next saga around mutants.

What To Know About the “X-Men” MCU Reboot

The plot and the character arcs of the movie remain unknown. On Aug. 17, 2026, a scooper with the username @Nomoremutants22 posted an unverified early draft of the rumored plot for the “X-Men” film. The user posted on X, “An unofficial draft I received for the #xmen plot. It has a lot of comic book elements and is adaptable to the casting. #marvelstudios.” The draft claims the movie will center on Jean Grey and Scott Summers amid growing anti-superhero sentiment following “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 17, 2027. It also names Mister Sinister as the primary antagonist, with the story culminating in the formation of the X-Men.

Treat the rumor as just speculation, not confirmation. The rumored plot points have not been verified by Marvel Studios. Plus, the movie isn’t out until 2028, so things could very well change by the time the film hits theaters.

Jake Schreier, whose credits include “Thunderbolts,” is on board to direct the film. Kit Connor (“Heartstopper”) plays Scott Summers, and Sadie Sink (“Spider-Man: Brand New Day”) plays Jean Grey. Alongside Navarrette as Rogue, Asa Germann (“Gen V”) plays Angel, Maya Boyd (“& Juliet”) plays Storm and Christopher Abbott (“Catch-22”) plays Professor Charles Xavier.

The cast also includes Samara Weaving (“Ready or Not”) as Emma Frost. Adam Driver (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”) will play Nathaniel Milbury, a name tied to Mister Sinister in the comics.

The “X-Men” MCU reboot still has no title. What is established is a director, a long list of actors, a May 5, 2028, release date and Navarrette, who is eager for the work ahead.
