Rumors suggest the “Avengers: Doomsday” post-credits scenes will feature major Marvel characters to set up “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which is scheduled to be released in theaters on Dec. 17, 2027. Maxblizz’s Taylon Desean reported that scooper and X user James Mack has named the two post-credits scenes in the film’s current cut. Mack previously claimed the Russo brothers want two serious post-credits scenes that set up the follow-up, though Marvel Studios has not confirmed any of it.
“Avengers: Doomsday” Post-Credits Scenes Reportedly Set
Marvel may have decided how to send audiences home at the end of “Avengers: Doomsday.” Mack claimed on X, “Apparently, a post-credits scene involving Wanda Maximoff and another featuring Tobey Maguire and Wolverine are the final, confirmed choices for the current cut of #AvengersDoomsday.” According to Maxblizz, the Wolverine in question is Hugh Jackman’s. The rumored “Avengers: Doomsday” post-credits scenes are allegedly settled for the film as it currently stands. However, the claim is speculation, not confirmation. What Marvel has publicly revealed is the movie’s foundation.
The Russo brothers are the directors of the film, and the MCU’s former Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr., is back as the villain Doctor Doom. Marvel’s synopsis says the movie opens the last chapter of the Multiverse Saga, with characters from three separate universes up against a threat with no precedent. It also describes the film as the basis for what comes next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to the official synopsis, “Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”
Wanda Maximoff’s “Avengers: Secret Wars” Storyline Reportedly Takes Shape
Keep in mind that the current cut of the film can change before opening day, so Mack’s report is a snapshot, not a final answer. Wanda’s arc is the heaviest piece of the rumors. According to Mack, Doctor Doom manipulates Wanda and erases her memories, and she becomes someone he trusts. She also reportedly leads an army on Battleworld as its queen and watches over Franklin and Valeria Richards. If that holds up, it is a hard road for a character who loses her past and ends up serving the man behind it.
Elizabeth Olsen’s name now sits at the center of both the “Avengers: Doomsday” post-credits scenes and the Wanda Maximoff “Avengers: Secret Wars” rumors, which makes her one of the people to watch as December gets closer. However, there has been no confirmation from Marvel that Olsen will appear in either movie. Olsen herself told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2025 that she wouldn’t be in the next two “Avengers” films, though scoopers have since claimed she shot scenes during additional photography. Whether Olsen returns as Wanda in both “Avengers” films or not remains a mystery.
Until Marvel Studios says otherwise, the rumored post-credits scenes and Wanda’s alleged return and arc remain unconfirmed. Several cast members for “Avengers: Doomsday” are official. Familiar faces include Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. On the X-Men side, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, James Marsden’s Cyclops, Channing Tatum’s Gambit, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, Kelsey Grammer’s Beast and Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler are among the names.
Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach play the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm. The ensemble also includes Paul Rudd, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Tom Hiddleston, Hayley Atwell, India Rose Hemsworth, Kathryn Newton, Letitia Wright, Hannah John-Kamen, Winston Duke, Danny Ramirez, Lewis Pullman and Tenoch Huerta Mejía, among others. Again, the rumors highlighted here are just that: rumors. Any information that doesn’t come from Marvel Studios should be treated as speculation, not confirmation. “Avengers: Doomsday” is scheduled to be released in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
