‘Heated Rivalry’ in Theaters: Why Fans Will Need 3 Tickets

Heated Rivalry is headed to the big screen. Regal Cinemas will show the queer hockey romance series in more than 650 U.S. theaters from Nov.

Heated Rivalry” is headed to the big screen. The queer hockey romance will play in more than 650 U.S. theaters from Nov. 6-30, with all six Season 1 episodes split into three double-episode screenings for fans who want to watch the season together in a theater rather than at home.

Regal Cinemas is leading the theatrical run with Sphere Abacus, the Bell Media company that distributes the series internationally. Regal will screen the episodes at more than 275 of its own locations and, as the nationwide distributor, bring the show to AMC, Cinemark and other participating theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The event arrives nearly a year after “Heated Rivalry” premiered Nov. 28, 2025, on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the U.S. It also lands months before the show’s second season, which is scheduled to premiere on Crave and HBO Max in spring 2027, according to TheWrap.

Heated Rivalry Theatrical Run Dates and Tickets

  • Dates: Nov. 6-30, 2026
  • Where: More than 650 U.S. theaters, including more than 275 Regal locations plus AMC, Cinemark and other exhibitors
  • Price: $9.99 per episode pairing
  • Format: Three double-episode screenings: Episodes 1 and 2 (“Rookies” and “Olympians”), Episodes 3 and 4 (“Hunter” and “Rose”) and Episodes 5 and 6 (“I’ll Believe in Anything” and “The Cottage”)

Rather than cramming the full season into one sitting, the run lets fans catch the story across three separate theater visits. Tickets for each pairing cost $9.99, according to Variety.

What We Know About the Heated Rivalry Theatrical Release

Regal screenings will open with welcome content from the “Heated Rivalry” cast and creator-director Jacob Tierney before the episodes play. Participating theaters will also serve two limited-time themed cocktails tied to the series, named Summer in Montreal and Russians Don’t Blush, giving the screenings a bar-style tie-in alongside the episode pairings.

Brooks LeBoeuf, senior vice president of U.S. content at Regal, explained the thinking behind bringing the show to theaters in a statement announcing the run. “When a series connects with audiences the way ‘Heated Rivalry’ has, we look for ways to bring it to the big screen and give fans a reason to experience it together,” LeBoeuf said. “Nearly a year after its premiere, we’re proud to work with our partners to turn a season fans have watched again and again into a true theatrical event. It’s a chance to celebrate the story, its creators and its performances before Season 2 arrives in 2027.”

Why the Heated Rivalry Theatrical Run Matters

The theatrical push is timed deliberately, giving the show a public moment roughly a year after its original debut and building momentum before new episodes arrive. The screenings aren’t limited to the U.S., either. Sphere Abacus said audiences in North America, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand will get to see the series on the big screen, a sign of how far the queer sports romance has traveled since its premiere.

Hockey romance is having a moment beyond “Heated Rivalry,” too. Netflix’s “Icebreaker” adaptation drew its own casting news this year, naming Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos as its leads.

Fans of the genre have also shown up in force at industry events, something Total Apex covered in its look at how sports romance performed at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The pairing-screening format for “Heated Rivalry” gives Regal a way to stretch a single season across multiple ticketed visits throughout November.

What’s Next for Heated Rivalry

The theatrical screenings run through Nov. 30, with the three episode pairings rotating across the month at participating theaters. Season 2 is filming in Toronto and is set to premiere in spring 2027, though an exact date has not been announced.
