For the first time since the Swiss Stage’s inception, China went winless in Round 1. All four LPL teams lost their Worlds 2026 opening game. The first two were expected, but the losses to Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp hit hard. Meanwhile, the LCK dominated Day 1, with only Dplus KIA struggling. Surprisingly, G2 Esports were the only winless LEC team, while Team Liquid lost to CTBC Flying Oyster. LYON saved NA with a comfortable win over Team Secret Whales.

MKOI have caused the first upset of the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage. They started with a double kill in the 2v2. They won the first Drake fight and had control. That control faded as Knight killed Jojopyun twice. That did not matter for MKOI. They won the Drake fights and eventually got the Mountain Soul. They almost threw the game by overstaying on the map. BLG killed three members and took the Elder. That stalled the game. MKOI even lost their Baron push. But when it came down to it, Supa carried the second Elder fight and pushed MKOI to victory.
