Happy Friday! It’s time for your daily devotional. At times, life will seem overwhelming. Micah 7 exposes the prevalence of wickedness in Israel, when even the best of men were evil. It may look bad, but God always has a plan. You need not be discouraged. In this daily devotional, when you trust in the Lord, He turns your sorrow into rejoicing.
Remain Steadfast in the Lord
In verses 1-2, Micah laments the empty fields; there are no summer fruits, no clusters of first-ripe grapes. He longs for what once was abundant. Not only has the land ceased to produce, but not one righteous man can be found. In verse 4, “The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge.” Men are faithless; none are to be trusted. He advises against trusting friends or even spouses because evil is so pervasive; enemies are those closest.
In verse 6, he continues: “For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.” Jesus repeats this in Luke 12:53, for relatives will be divided over the gospel. In your daily devotional, when you follow Christ, some relationships will suffer, but remain steadfast, trusting in God.
God Has a Way Out
In all of this, Micah looks to the Lord and waits for His salvation. He exclaims, “My God will hear me.” When the enemy sees you fallen, he thinks it’s all over for you. He tries to keep you down. But even in hardship, your faith must rise. In verse 8, Micah exults, “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.”
God never leaves you without hope. His mercies are new every morning. Each day brings forgiveness, healing, and restoration. In this daily devotional, there’s a saying that trouble won’t last always. God has a way out for you,
God’s Judgments are Righteous
Micah accepts punishment for his sins, acknowledging that the Lord’s judgments are righteous. He knows the Lord will bring him into the light, and he will behold God’s righteousness. However, his enemy, who taunted him, saying, “Where is the Lord thy God?” will fall without remedy. After captivity, Israel will be rebuilt and its glory restored.
Just as God brought them out of Egypt, He will lead them out of Assyria, and they will dwell in their land as before. Their enemies will be awed by Israel’s renewal, while they slither away like serpents in fear. In your daily devotional, don’t fret over your enemies; while you’re blessed, they’ll face God’s judgment.
Micah Gives God Praise
In 7:18, Micah gives God praise, for there’s none other who pardens iniquity. Jesus revealed His deity by forgiving sins, confirming He is God the Son. In verse 19, “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” In this daily devotional, thank God for His grace and mercy flowing to you.
There’s No God Like Your God
In Friday’s daily devotional, Micah rejoices in the God who remembers His covenant of old with Jacob and His mercy to Abraham and to His seed forevermore. There’s no God like your God. He always keeps His word. In today’s daily devotional, no matter what it looks like, rejoice in the Lord.
