Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred Will See Lilith Returning in the Showdown Against Her Father in New In-Game Cutscene
Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred is the newest and a major expansion to the Diablo storyline, and it will be released on April 28. Fans are excited for this expansion, as it will conclude the three-part “Hatred” story arc as we face the final evil, the Lord of Hatred himself: Mephisto. Everything’s been leading up to this point, and this expansion will include so many bonuses and rewards sure to excite players and fans of the game.
Recently, IGN First released a new in-game cutscene video on their official YouTube channel revealing something special… That’s right, Lilith, our beautifully evil and tragic antagonist of the first story arc of Diablo IV, will be making her return in this final story arc. And it seems like we’ll be allying with the creator of Sanctuary this time. Here’s everything that was revealed in the video.

The in-game cutscene video pretty much came out of nowhere, and it definitely hyped up this new expansion to Diablo IV. The video starts with the main playable character falling into a dark abyss. The video then goes into a narration voiced by Lilith herself, where she says:
I gave my children a world… and the strength to make it their own.
And all I have to show for it, is you. Fight!
The cutscene is pretty epic, especially when Lilith actually pops into frame, and lends the playable main character a literal hand from falling to their death. Her iconic wings are spread open as she tells us to fight, giving us a clue as to where she lands in this fight. She’s definitely giving us ally vibes in this reveal video, which is exciting because Lilith isn’t your quintessential evil antagonist.
I’ve often empathized with her story, especially her history with Inarius and the creation of Sanctuary. Seeing her come back, even though we can only speculate right now which side she’s on in this chapter, is still an exciting notion and brings things full circle. I’m also pretty certain her comeback will be as epic as this reveal video, though we’d still have to wait and see what role she’ll play in this final battle.
Lord of Hatred Drops April 28
The second expansion for Diablo IV, Lord of Hatred, is scheduled to release on April 28. This will be season 13 of Diablo IV, and will include many in-game bonuses and rewards for players who’ve pre-ordered Lord of Hatred. This season is jam-packed full of content, so there’s no shortage of things players will get to do and experience once the expansion drops.
Apart from the story expansion, two new classes of heroes will be introduced in season 13: the Paladin, which players can already unlock and play if they’ve pre-purchased Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred already, and the Warlock, which will drop at the same time as season 13. The game will also update and revamp certain gameplay mechanics and introduce new items to help with leveling up your character.
This update is the long-awaited conclusion to the three-part “Hatred” story arc. We’ll finally be subject to Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, who has deep ties to Diablo lore, and Sanctuary, the primary setting of the Diablo series, the world that Lilith and Inarius created, and the place that Mephisto currently occupies. This battle will be long; it’s very exciting to know that Lilith will have some sort of role to play in this final arc, facing her demon father. Lord of Hatred releases in just 12 days, so be prepared for a long and arduous battle.
