Disney World Lightning Lane Updates for Summer 2026: What Guests Need to Know
Walt Disney World has rolled out several major updates to its Lightning Lane Multi Pass system for summer 2026. With multiple attractions reopening, new overlays debuting, and virtual queues shifting guest flow, these changes significantly impact how visitors should plan their park days.
This guide breaks down every update across Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, along with recommended strategies for using Lightning Lane effectively.
Magic Kingdom Adds More Lightning Lane Options After Ride Reopenings

Magic Kingdom now offers more value for Lightning Lane Multi Pass users thanks to the reopening of two major attractions:
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Reopened April 8 with upgraded ride vehicles, handheld blasters, and a new character named Buddy. It has returned to the second grouping of Lightning Lane selections.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Reopened May 3 after a year-long refurbishment featuring new effects, lighting, scenery, and a smoother track. It has rejoined the Tier 1 Lightning Lane group.
With both attractions back online, Magic Kingdom once again provides one of the strongest Lightning Lane lineups in the park, making it a top park for maximizing Multi Pass value.
EPCOT’s Value Remains Limited Despite Soarin’ Update
EPCOT continues to be the most challenging park for Lightning Lane users because nearly all high-demand attractions fall into Tier 1, including:
- Test Track
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
- Frozen Ever After
- Soarin’ Across America (new storyline as of May 26)
The refreshed Soarin’ experience may help distribute crowds more evenly, but it does not significantly improve the overall value of at EPCOT.
Recommended Strategy for EPCOT
- Skip Lightning Lane Multi Pass
- Use Single Rider for Test Track and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
- Rope drop Frozen Ever After or Soarin’
- If purchasing anything, buy a Single Pass for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Hollywood Studios Sees Major Lightning Lane Demand Increases
Hollywood Studios remains the park where the Multi Pass is most essential. Several major updates are driving demand even higher:
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
Reopened May 26 with a full Muppets overlay featuring Dr. Teeth, Electric Mayhem, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and more. It is now a Tier 1 attraction and early reviews suggest demand will spike.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Debuted new missions and storylines on May 22 featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu. The engineer role can now choose the destination, increasing replay value and Lightning Lane demand. It remains Tier 1.
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!
Added to the second grouping of Lightning Lane selections, helping distribute demand across the park.
Because Hollywood Studios has many high-wait attractions, Lightning Lane Multi Pass is strongly recommended here.
Animal Kingdom Adds Bluey Experience But It’s Still Not Worth It
Animal Kingdom has been operating with fewer Lightning Lane options since DINOSAUR closed permanently on February 2. This has increased wait times for remaining attractions but has not improved the value.
Bluey’s Wild World at Conservation Station
Opened May 26 and currently uses a virtual queue with drops at 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. A standby line is not available yet, and Disney has not announced when the virtual queue will end. If demand remains high, this experience could eventually be added to Lightning Lane.
Recommended Strategy for Animal Kingdom
- Skip it
- Rope drop Flight of Passage or Expedition Everest
- Use early entry if available
Animal Kingdom remains the least cost-effective park. This may change with some of the future updates coming in 2027 and beyond but for now, save your money.
Best Strategy for Summer 2026
Best Parks to Use Multi Pass
- Hollywood Studios
- Magic Kingdom
Parks Where Multi Pass Is Not Recommended
- EPCOT (unless buying a single pass for Cosmic Rewind)
- Animal Kingdom
Key Takeaways
- Magic Kingdom’s reopened attractions significantly improve value.
- Hollywood Studios’ new overlays and missions will increase demand for Tier 1 selections.
- EPCOT’s Tier 1 bottleneck continues to limit usefulness.
- Animal Kingdom still offers too few eligible attractions to justify the cost.
