MSI 2026 Match Review – T1 Versus FURIA: Brazil Exits MSI Despite a Competitive Series

After missing out on beating LYON, FURIA had to get past T1 in the MSI Lower Bracket. They put up a fight in all games of the series. Even when T1 had control of the game, FURIA did not let them win comfortably. They should have extended the series to four games, but they lacked the clutch factor against T1. T1’s draft priorities still need work, as they drafted themselves into a hole in game three.

FURIA Wins the First Skirmish

T1 opts into a 3v3 skirmish in the bot lane. Oner picks up the First Blood kill, but Tatu responds with two kills. Peyz and Keria kill Ayu shortly before Tatu ganks Doran and kills him. FUR opts for a 5v5 fight on the Grubs. However, they are late, and T1 crushes the fight. FUR fight back thanks to Tatu’s Lee Sin, but the game is still bleeding.

T1 Controls the Mid Game

T1 breaks open the map with their lane advantages. FUR goes for one more mid skirmish, but they again. FUR start to turtle as the lead crests 5k gold. T1 gets incremental advantages, trading kills while destroying towers. Despite having leads, T1 cannot take Baron with their composition. After burning FUR’s Flashes, T1 wins the next fight and ends the game.

FURIA First Blood Battles Against Winning Lanes

Every T1 lane has the push and wins in isolation. Oner overextends on the bot side of the map, and Tatu gets the first blood. Peyz and Keria take the bot tower and swap to the top lane after Doran dies solo. Peyz and Keria start snowballing as they kill Tatu, and then they win a 2v3 for a kill on JoJo. FUR bite back on T1, burning Flashes and earning a couple kills.

T1 Live on Low Health

FUR continue to make proactive plays, burning Flashes and nearly killing T1 members. The one play that fails turns into a significant T1 win. They pick up two kills and extend the lead to 3k gold. T1 draws FUR to the Baron. The CBLOL team forces them off the objective. T1 turns and wins the fight to get the Baron. FUR make desperation plays, but nothing sticks as T1 ends the game.

Early Game T1 Dive

After pushing in the wave, Peyz and Keria call Oner for the dive. They kill Ayu, but not before Keria dies to JoJo for the first blood. T1 pull a second dive, this time with Faker as well. The dive fails, with T1 getting one kill in trade for two. T1 looks for skirmishes, but FUR is ready to match. The first skirmish goes to FUR, but the second is in T1’s favor thanks to Peyz. T1 gets the Rift Herald, but loses both Oner and Doran.

The Composition Difference

Despite an ideal engagement from T1, they still lose the fight. The sustain from the FUR bot lane is too much for them to bear. T1 sees the difference and does not care as they find the fight near the Baron. They pick off every member and secure the objective. And then, in T1 fashion, they go too far on the siege and lose every member.

Faker’s Seismic Shove Earns a Second Baron

After narrowly losing the Cloud Soul fight, Faker catches Tutsz, and FURIA allows T1 to take the Baron. With the waves pushing, FUR goes for a desperate fight. Doran kills Tutsz before it truly begins, and T1 shuts the door.

T1

Doran – 7.0

Doran had more room to play in the laning phases in this series. With Guigo playing weakside, Doran had the time to take control of the lane. As always with Doran, he had some weird deaths, but none of them mattered. His Varus was better than what we have seen from him in the past.

Oner- 7.0

Oner had a dominant start to the series, controlling the map as Trundle. He struggled in the third game, playing the only melee champion into a challenging team composition. He did his job to allow his carries the space.

Faker – 8.0

Faker had a quietly strong series. While the rest of the team went aggressive, Faker played safe and joined when needed. He was the one who set the game three win in motion. The catch on Tutsz allowed T1 to take Baron and end the game.

Peyz – 8.0 (Total Apex Player of the Series)

Once Peyz was back on the AD carry champions, he flexed his muscles. He went a little too aggressive on Kalista, but for the most part he kept the FUR members at bay.

Keria – 6.7

A weaker series than expected from Keria. He still showed his skills on all three champions, but sometimes went a bit too far. He had some unnecessary deaths and took damage before fights started.

FURIA

Guigo – 3.7

With the drafts and Guigo being weak-sided, he had little room to impact the series. When he did get the chance, he missed the mark, especially on Gnar. Unfortunately, he never landed the ideal GNAR! on T1’s carries.

Tatu – 5.7

Tatu stood tall against T1 in this series. He was the only player with a lead through most of the first game. His proactive players on all three champions gave FUR a chance in this series. Maybe if he had a slightly better game as Nasus, they could have taken a game off of T1.

Tutsz – 4.7

Tutsz’s Aurora was exceptional in the mid-game. He outplayed T1 on multiple occasions. However, he tailed off. Losing Flash on an errant teleport and then dying to Faker’s Seismic Shove led to FUR falling in game three.

Ayu – 4.7

Ayu had a decent performance against Peyz. He was stable in the laning phase, even against Peyz’ Caitlyn. He eventually fell behind, but remained relevant in the series. With slightly better positioning in the game three teamfights, maybe he has more space to carry.

JoJo – 4.0

JoJo had a difficult performance on Bard. Many of the Tempered Fates did not land. He needed to land them to either guarantee picks or force Summoner Spells from T1. The rest of the series was okay, but he also needed better positioning on Seraphine.
