LCK 2026 Round 4 Day 12 Recap: Gen.G Return to Their Rightful Position of First Place
Since the start of the LCK Regular Season, Gen.G Esports has not been in first place. That is a rarity for the team that has dominated the LCK for the past few years. For the first time, they regained first place, if only for a moment, after beating Hanwha Life Esports 2-0. FearX also earned first place in the Rise Group following their 2-1 victory over KRX in the opening series of the day. Both teams have put a massive foot towards finishing in the spots they are chasing.
Improvement from KRX
KRX was nowhere near BFX in their previous meeting at the end of last week. They had a better showing today, winning the first game of the series. The rest of the series did not go in their favor. It went back to the way it was last week, as BFX dominated proceedings. The draft in game two also did not help KRX’s cause.
They needed to find early leads, but it was BFX that snowballed the game through a 5-player top dive. The game was over from that point onwards. The draft was better for KRX in the third game, but they still lacked the coordination. For the third series in a row, we got to see the early rotated Olaf pick countered. In this series, it was Frog picking Jax, who earned a solo kill in the matchup.

Gen.G’s Rise Continues
Gen.G earned a relatively dominant 2-0 victory over Hanwha Life Esports. It is the second week in a row Gen.G has beaten HLE. While Gen.G had a relatively comfortable win, HLE kept the games close. Kanavi’s early plays in game one gave them the advantage, but it did not last against Gen.G’s scaling. And then in game two, where Gen.G snowballed early, HLE kept the dream alive. Despite being behind in gold, they made even plays throughout the map. It bought them time to find the perfect fights.
All of a sudden, HLE had the gold lead, as Chovy continued to fall. HLE went for an errant engagement in the Ocean Soul fight, and everything collapsed. For the first time since the start of the LCK Regular Season, Gen.G moves to first place in the standings. They will wait for T1’s series tomorrow and their match against them for a chance to finish the week in first place.

Both Teams Moving to First Place
The wins for FearX and Gen.G Esports see them move to first place in the Rise and Legend Groups, respectively. Both of them took a step forward towards the post-season spots. One more series win for both teams will likely result in them finishing in Play-Ins and Playoffs spots. For HLE, their guaranteed World Championship spot is in question after losing another series since returning to the LCK. If HLE do not finish in the top four of the Legend Group, they will need to make their way through the Play-Ins to activate their Worlds ticket.
