LCK 2026 Road to MSI T1 Versus Gen.G: T1 Break Their Streak and Qualify For MSI
The last time T1 won a best-of-five series against Gen.G Esports in the LCK was the Spring 2023 Playoffs. They broke that streak today, with a 3-2 victory over the LCK giants. Many expected a Gen.G win after game one, but T1 clawed their way back. It was an epic LCK series that showed both teams deserve to be at MSI. Gen.G’s loss means they will not have a chance to defend their back-to-back titles.
LCK 2026: Series Summary

Game One – Aggression Failure
T1 falls behind early after losing two 2v2 trades in the bot lane. Duro is the first to impact the map as he shows up to gank Doran. T1 turns their attention to the top side of the map to recover and put Kiin behind. However, their multiple dives do not work out. T1 can only get a handful of picks throughout the game as Gen.G starts to steamroll. Every T1 kill merely slows the game down instead of helping them recover. Eventually, with the Cloud Soul, Gen.G closed out the first game of the series.
Game Two – T1 Clutch in Teamfights
Despite Kalista Renata Glasc from T1, there is little action in the early game. However, T1 secured the first two Drakes of the game 11 minutes in. Both teams looked for cross-map plays, and T1 got a significant lead on Oner. The third Drake fight was messy as the teams traded four kills each. Gen.G reset first and took the Drake.
Gen.G, with priority forced Baron. Keria caught Chovy, and the fight snowballed with T1 taking the Baron and the first significant lead of the game. Oner, Peyz, and Keria died during the siege, and the balance shifted. Canyon smited the Drake, but T1 won the fight and took their second Baron. They could not make a dent in the towers, but got a positional advantage for the Chemtech Soul. T1 pulled the trigger instantly and killed Ruler for the fight-winning play.
Game Three – Nail-Biting Fights
T1 fell behind early, with Faker dying multiple times in lane. He helps Peyz get ahead. Gen.G holds the lead for most of the game and has the Drake stacking. T1 tries to enter into fights, but they cannot get past Kiin’s Zaahen. Canyon becomes a problem for T1 as every Shock Blast that hits deals a large portion of their health. Even Faker loses most of his health. Canyon lands two consecutive Shock Blasts to chunk Peyz, and T1 has to give up the Mountain Soul.
T1 makes a Hail Mary gank onto Kiin, but it fails. Chovy turns on Peyz to keep him out of the fight, and the odds turn towards Gen.G. The first Elder Drake fight ends in a 1-for-1. Oner and Kiin, T1, have a position on the Drake, but do not have a Jungler to do the objective. Everyone resets for a second fight. Doran finds a flank to get onto the backline, and T1 crushes through the fight. They push to end the game.
Game Four – T1 Fumble Peyz’ Lead
Early ganks and fights led to Peyz getting two kills and a significant lead early. Gen.G fought back with kills on Faker and Doran. The Rift Herald fight proves pivotal as Peyz picks up an additional four kills. T1 has a few manic moments as the players go into fights without support or at the wrong times. Gen.G wins the Ocean Soul fight, and they eventually get the Baron. The Baron push is enough for Gen.G to end the game and send the series to Silver Scrapes.
Game Five – T1 Outscale
Faker barely escapes a gank and executes, but he falls behind in XP. He recovers part of the deficit with a First Blood kill on Canyon. The mid-game derails for T1 with a couple of members dying, and they lose the Rift Herald fight. Faker falls further behind and needs more time to scale. The fourth Drake fight is where the game breaks open. Oner secures the smite, and T1 clean up the extended fight with Faker picking up three kills. They force Baron and ace Gen.G. With the final Baron push, T1 ends the game and the series.
