Kitty Witchy Review: A Cozy Puzzle Adventure with a Language Hiccup
I recently had the opportunity to play the new cozy puzzle game Kitty Witchy, and overall I like it. It has a witch, magic, and a cat. What more is there to ask for? Well, a few things. But that’s jumping ahead. I have a lot to say about this casual adventure. So, let’s jump in.
What is Kitty Witchy?

At its heart, Kitty Witchy is a casual puzzle game. Its genres are listed as Adventure, Casual, and Indie. I would agree that it’s a kind of adventure. But more than that, it’s a series of puzzles you solve by moving large magical stones. Each puzzle takes place on a section of the 3D map and, after solving the puzzle, you can progress to the next section.
The first magical stones you encounter are plain stones, but you’ll also find ice, fire, and summoning stones. These can freeze water, burn bushes, and summon your cat friend, respectively. In the game’s description, we’re told the cat’s name is Cosmo. A name is not given for the witch.
Game Mechanics

The game’s mechanics are simple. WASD move the witch or the cat. When you walk up to a magic stone, the interaction options appear on the screen. So you’ll never be confused about which key to press on the keyboard. I’m a fan of this because I tend to forget which key to press when I’ve set a game aside for a while and go back to it. And it means there’s no long tutorial.
Solving the puzzles has, so far, been fairly intuitive. You may have to use a stone as a weight on a button or as a stepping stone in a gap. Ice stones can be pushed into water to freeze it so you can walk across. And the fire stones burn down bushes blocking the path. Obstacles like stairs, gaps, puddles, and mysterious black patches can complicate things. But none of the puzzles I encountered were too difficult to solve on my own.
The cat’s summoning stones are the most interesting. Interacting with these purple-veined stones summons the cat, and your control switches to it. The cat can go into smaller spaces and climb vines. It can also magically activate little round platforms to remove magical barriers. When the cat first appears, there is also a circle showing the boundary for it. The cat can only go so far away from the witch. So you might have to move the stone before activating it.
Sounds Good. What’s the Problem?

Kitty Witchy has an opening cinematic where you see the witch and a magical being that seems to send her to the enchanted land. There was no dialogue, so it wasn’t clear why this happened or who the being was. The witch is not introduced, and neither is her cat.
After about an hour of play time, I was left with a couple of other questions. As you go, there are blue crystals that glow when you approach them. They stay glowing after you walk away. They seem to have no other purpose, but it makes me wonder what they’re for. Is there an achievement for lighting all of them? Does it have some other effect down the line? The other odd thing is these floating cards or scrolls. They seem to have a slight glow, and there’s a sound when you walk into them. You seem to collect the item, but there is nothing to indicate whether there’s a set number of them or whether they have any purpose.
Things started to get interesting when I came across a large tree with a face that seemed to be sleeping. Nothing I did affected it at all, so I continued on. After solving more puzzles, I was teleported back to the tree. The tree woke up! Yay! I was excited, but there was one problem. The tree and the witch were speaking Portuguese. There isn’t any voice acting, and I’m OK with that. This was the actual text of the conversation on the screen. Not wanting to get out my phone for Google Translate, I decided to stop there for a while.
Yes, I checked the settings for a language setting, and there was none.
Final Verdict for Kitty Witchy
Kitty Witchy is an indie game developed by a team whose first language is clearly Portuguese. No problem! But the game’s language in Steam is listed as English, and everything before the tree was English. Color me confused. This isn’t a deal breaker, though. It’s something we can easily move past with a little extra technology. And it’s surely a bug that will be fixed.
The puzzles are fun, the environments are lovely, and the game is overall cozy, relaxing, and entertaining. I enjoyed it, and I do plan to play more of the game. I’ll just make sure I have Google Translate ready to go.
As of today, July 9, 2026, Kitty Witchy is 10% off on Steam, priced at $7.19 until July 12, 2026. The game just released on July 2, so it’s super fresh. I’d say it’s worth a look if you enjoy this type of puzzle and want something relaxing to play with low stakes.
