Weekly Free Games on the Epic Games Store July 16 – 23, 2026
This week is all about the spooky things on the Epic Games Store, at least for PC. We have 90s nostalgia, psychological horror, and, on mobile, chess. The chess isn’t spooky, though it is more than just chess. From the descriptions and trailers for these titles, I’m sure we won’t be getting bored this week.
So, my gaming friends on a tight budget, here are the free games available this week.
Echo Generation: Midnight Edition

At first glance, Echo Generation reminds me of “Stranger Things.” You have a group of kids in a town facing supernatural challenges. But that’s not a bad thing to be compared to. This game looks like fun. Thanks to the Epic Games Store for making it free this week!
Echo Generation: Midnight Edition takes place in the 1990s, where a group of kids finds themselves on a “spooky adventure.” The trailer tells us that you’ll uncover mysteries, battle monsters, and find your dad. Battle is turn-based. Your party will include pets. And there are 30+ comic books to collect, which each have mini games for skills and stat boosts. Of course, you’ll also be exploring the town and talking to people to uncover clues.
Watch the trailer. You’ll thank me.

Luto

The second free PC game from the Epic Games Store this week is not for the faint of heart. Luto is taking us to a psychological horror story. You play as a person who cannot leave their house. The trailer tells us that “this is a story about hope, dreams, secrets, love, fears, loss, regret, ghosts, lies, Hell, and death. Oof. That’s a heavy list of things.
The game takes you in and out of reality while exploring to uncover secrets. It sounds like some of the things you find will be uncomfortable, to say the least. This game is definitely not for everybody, but if you’re a fan of horror and psychological thrillers, jump in.

The Ouroboros King

The Ouroboros King was free for PC and Mac on the Epic Games Store back in the week of June 11, 2026. Now, you can claim it for free on mobile!
This game combines chess with turn-based strategy. It’s also a roguelike game and allows you to replay from a previous action if you’re defeated. From the description of the mobile version, it’s unclear if the hotseat feature is included, but it would be really cool if it were.
It’s free on the Epic Games Store for mobile right now and $9.99 on PC and Mac.

How to Claim Freebies From the Epic Games Store
Whether you want to play on your PC, Mac, Android, or iOS device (iOS is available only in the EU), you can find the download information on the Epic Games Store website. If you’re on a computer, you can download the Epic Games Launcher to access and play your games. I know that’s not exactly shocking, and you probably figured that out already.
For the mobile games, you’ll need the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code, which will direct you to the download page. You will have to enable downloads from other sources. (Other than the native app store, that is.) This app isn’t available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After installing the app, launch it, sign in, and then scroll down to find the current free game.
And that’s what we have for you this week! Check back next week, and we’ll highlight the new game offerings from the Epic Games Store. We’re staying on top of the latest gaming news, so you don’t have to worry about any FOMO.
Happy gaming!
