Happy second week of June, gaming friends! If it’s as hot where you are as it is here, you’ll be grateful for another round of free games from the Epic Games Store. Stay in that air conditioning or sit in front of your fans, gamers! Grab your favorite chilled drink and snacks, then jump in on these games. Oh, and if you’re gaming on a Mac, we’ve got one for you, too, this time.

  • Single Player, Local Multiplayer

  • Platform: PC, Mac

You don’t have to know how to play chess to enjoy The Ouroboros King, the free PC and Mac game from the Epic Games Store. It’s a game that combines the classic board game with turn-based strategy features. Relics and consumables give your army temporary advantages as you fight to defeat the opposing army. As a roguelike, each play-through is unique with different maps, enemies, and rewards.

Hot Seat multiplayer lets you challenge friends to a game of chess on the same computer. There aren’t any features to unlock; you have access to everything right away. Runs typically last 15 to 45 minutes. This isn’t your usual chess game. It has some interesting features, so give it a second look.

  • Platform: PC

That’s not a typo, friends. The second Epic Games Store freebie is Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks. Take the Warhammer Orks to the racetrack and battlefields in vehicles like buggies, tanks, and helicopters that you can customize. The game does require an internet connection to play, but there are options for solo racing as well as modes like the 8v8 “Deff Rally.”

You can also build your own tracks and battlefields in the level editor. The game boasts over 400 assets. You can share your creations in the Workshop, where you can also find levels created by others.

On the Epic Games Store mobile, go claim Guild of Dungeoneering Ultimate Edition! You won’t be the hero this time. You’re in charge of controlling the dungeon! You’ll use cards to place the rooms, monsters, and loot. But that’s not all. You’re also managing the guild. But those heroes will make their own decisions when they enter the dungeon. So, get started building your guild, heroes, and dungeons.

* Guild of Dungeoneering Ultimate Edition is also available for PC and Mac, though it isn’t free for those platforms right now. But it will only set you back $19.99 if you want to play it on a bigger screen.

How to Claim Freebies From the Epic Games Store

Whether you want to play on your PC, Mac, Android, or iOS device (iOS is available only in the EU), you can find the download information on the Epic Games Store website. If you’re on a computer, you can download the  Epic Games Launcher to access and play your games. I know that’s not exactly shocking, and you probably figured that out already.

For the mobile games, you’ll need the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code, which will direct you to the download page. You will have to enable downloads from other sources. (Other than the native app store, that is.) This app isn’t available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After installing the app, launch it, sign in, and then scroll down to find the current free game.

And that’s what we have for you this week! Check back next week, and we’ll highlight the new game offerings from the Epic Games Store. We’re staying on top of the latest gaming news, so you don’t have to worry about any FOMO.

Happy gaming!
