The Last Wish Raid in Destiny 2

The June 9th update brings tiered loot to every raid and dungeon in Destiny 2. Each one will see their weapons get a loot refresh and an individual armor set. The armor sets come with their own set piece bonuses. Last Wish is an iconic raid in Destiny 2. It had one of the greatest World’s First races. However, the difficulty of it has fallen off over time.

Last Wish: Loading Into The Raid

All six players will load in front of a big Awoken door. Everyone in the fireteam must enter the room to trigger the dialogue. Once the dialogue completes, an opening in the left wall will appear. Jump through and ascend the crystals on the left side. Jump across and move forward until you reach the first encounter on your right.

Last Wish: Kalli, The Corrupted

Before you start the encounter, survey the room. There are nine plates on the outer ring, each with a symbol above it. On the inner part are three pairs of two symbols each, around Kalli. These symbols indicate the plates you must stand on. Assign players to a plate that matches those symbols. Everyone steps on their plate at the same time. When the encounter starts, pay attention to your plate. Two of the three sections will be covered by Taken. After a brief duration, it explodes, killing everything. Stand on the section, free from Taken. After every explosion, the sections will move; you must pay attention to this.

At points, Kalli will teleport to one of the random plates. Shoot her a few times with a primary weapon to make her teleport away. Standing on your plate for long enough cleanses it and spawns a Taken Knight. Kill it, and move to the middle of the arena. Once the text “Kalli spawns an ontological weapon” appears, the damage phase starts.

At two different parts of the damage phase, Kalli will start charging her attack. During this time, doors will open beneath her. If you cleaned all six plates, there is a door for each plate. A door can only hold one player. Jump through the door to dodge her attack. Resume damage until she is dead or charges her next attack. If you do not kill her in the first phase, you must repeat the process.

Last Wish: First Traversal Section

After Kalli dies, a door opens on the opposite side. Head through the door and move up the stairs. There is a hole on the right side that allows you to jump up. Continue forward until you reach the beams. You must cross these beams and jump to the other side. Hug the left side as you continue through. Eventually, you will reach a big door with a Rally Banner.

Last Wish: Shuro Chi, The Corrupted

Before the encounter starts, you must assign players tasks. Choose three players who will jump on plates to break Shuro Chi’s shield. Then assign numbers to players from 1 to 4. The players can be the same for both mechanics.

Breaking Shuro’s Chi’s Shield

The encounter will start with a timer called Shuro Chi’s song. Clear through the numerous Taken enemies until Prism Weapons spawn on each plate around Shuro Chi. The three assigned players pick up the weapon and use their primary fire on the player to their right. Be swift and coordinated, standing on the plate deals damage to the player.

Taken Essence will also drop from a Taken Captain. You can use the ultimate on that to stun Shuro Chi. However, you only need that if you run out of time. Another vital factor is that the timer ticks down faster after the weapons spawn. It slows once you eliminate the section of her health bar. You must repeat this process a second time on each floor.

Filling In the Symbol

After two successful damage phases, you will find yourself in a room with nine plates. To the left of the room is a symbol, but four parts of the symbol are missing. Have the assigned number of players stand in front of a plate in order from left to right and top to bottom. Everyone must jump on at the same time, because these plates also deal damage to the player. You must repeat this process twice. New symbols appear in the middle and the right of the room after you complete each one. Players can not stand on the same plate twice.

If you have stood on a plate before, either swap with another player or have one of the two non-plate players jump on instead. If done successfully, the timer will reset and the cup platforms will descend. Be careful when you jump up; the cups will flip around. Now repeat the entire process for two more floors to kill Shuro Chi.

Last Wish: Second Traversal Section

After defeating Shuro Chi, a large door opens. Run through until you reach a tree. You will need to climb this tree to progress. You want to reach the opening right above where you entered. Hug the right side and do not ascend the stairs. Jump up the rocks until you see a Taken Portal. Head through the portal into the ascendant realm. Navigating this area is tricky. Your visibility is low, and many of the platforms will rotate. Take your time as you progress through. Ignore every portal until you reach the opposite side platform.

Last Wish: Morgeth, the Spirekeeper

As with the previous encounters, you want to assign players’ roles before you start. The roles are as follows:

  • One player to pick up the first and last Taken Strength
  • Two pairs of two players
    • One pair picks up one Taken Strength each
    • The other pair has one player pick up two at a time
  • The last player hunts down the Taken Captain for the Taken Essence.

To start the encounter, player one must pick up the first Taken Strength. After a period of time, four more Taken Strength spawn, two on each side of the arena. Have one player on one side pick up both, while the other side shares the Strength. Doing so will detain the player with two Strength. After a short period, Morgeth detains that player. The player with Taken Essence must run up to him and hit their grenade button. It will cleanse the player and grant them the Strength instead.

Now the player who got cleaned must look for Taken Essence. Four more Strengths will spawn, and use the same process as before. One more detain will happen. After the detainment, kill all the orange bar enemies, and the final Strength appears. Have the first player pick up the Strength to start the damage phase. During the encounter, Morgeth powers up. If he reaches 100%, you wipe. You can stun him during the damage phase to reset the mechanic with the super from the Taken Essence. However, if you are fast enough, you will kill him before he powers up. A last note, picking up more than two Strength will kill the player.

Last Wish: Third Traversal Section

After killing Morgeth, the door opens. Head through, take an immediate right, and then left up the stairs. Continue all the way to the other side until you spot an opening on the right side. Run through until you reach an elevator.

Last Wish: The Vault Encounter

The Vault encounter will see you split into three pairs. Assign two players to each section. In each pair, there are two different roles:

  • The Reader and Dunker
  • The ad Clear

The ad clear player can participate in the mechanic, but for simplicity, they should not. To start the encounter, one player must stand on each plate. For simplicity, we will assign the plates as follows:

  • Front: Stairs
  • Left – Forest
  • Right – Rocks

Each plate reader will have three symbols in front of it. Any three of the players can start reading, but we recommend the stairs player for consistency. The stairs player reads their middle symbol. One of the other two will call if they have that symbol on their left or right. That player will now read their middle symbol for the others to call where it is. You only need two players to read, but a third one does not hurt. Now, why does this matter? The right and left define which Essence you must dunk at a plate.

  • Right=Antumbra
  • Left=Penumbra

After a brief period, two of the doors will “lock”. The reader of the unlocked door must head inside and clear the Taken enemies. Eventually, a Captain will spawn that drops the Essence. When you pick up the Essence, check if it is antumbra or penumbra. Whichever one it is, it will correlate to where you must dunk. After you pick up the Essence, the doors rotate. You must tell your teammate with the Essence, which direction he must go. Deposit the Essence on the plate with your grenade button. If it is the wrong plate, that player dies.

Periodically during this time, Taken Knights spawn that try to lock the Vault mechanism. Kill them to prevent a wipe. Once you have cleansed all the plates, a new symbol rotation starts, and you repeat the process. You must complete the process three times, for a total of nine plates cleansed. For each rotation, there will always be two of Essence type, never three.

An example to explain it:

  • The stairs player calls dragon breathing fire to the left
  • The rocks player says that it is on their right
    • Rocks=Antumbra
  • The rocks player calls circle fish
  • The forest player says that it is on their right
    • Forest=ntumbra
    • Stairs=penumbra

In this example, if you have penumbra, deposit at the stairs; otherwise, antumbra players can deposit at the other two. It helps to write the callouts in chat. Once you cleanse the final plate, the door opens.

Last Wish: Fourth Traversal Section

The traversal to Riven is short. Follow the path until you reach a room with two doors. The leftmost door will eventually open.

Last Wish: Riven of a Thousand Voices

The general plan for this encounter is the cheese version. For any players who want to know how to do Riven legit, that is what we will cover. Split your team into two groups of three. Fortunately, the game does that naturally, by separating the plates. For each group, assign a reader and a dunker. These roles will become clear in a moment. Each group will head into their own room. From here, one of two events will occur. Either Riven will appear in your room or not.

Riven Appears

If Riven appears in your room, she will do one of two attacks: either breathe fire or extend her tentacles. The team in this room has the objective to stun her. However, you must wait until the other room has completed their task, which we will get to in a moment. If she breathes fire, shoot her mouth when it glows red. If it is her tentacles, one player must bait her attack. Shoot the tentacle when she slams it into the ground. Be sure to jump when she does. After you stun her, two of her ten eyes glow. Assign numbers to these eyes. Utilize L1-L5, and R1-R5. Call out the two glowing eyes to your teammates.

Creating the Elevator

The team without Riven in their room has a task to complete. The dunker must pick up the Taken Essence and read the symbol they see in the middle of the room. The reader must stand on the middle platform, behind the glass, to find the symbol. Direct the dunker to the symbol, and have them deposit the Essence. Complete the task, and an elevator will spawn. Do not take the elevator yet. You can tell the opposite room that they can stun Riven. You must move fast; Riven can leave before the stun happens.

Now Riven appears in the second room. Deal as much damage to Riven as possible in a short window. When you see your screen start to change, shoot the two eyes called out by room one. If you miss the window or shoot the wrong eye, you will wipe. At this time, the first room will deposit the symbol. Once both rooms have completed their tasks, take the elevator. Now the roles will reverse for the second floor.

The Third Floor

Everyone will meet up on the third floor, where the encounter started. Here, you must stun Riven three times, for six eyes total. The fourth time she appears, deal damage to her. If you do not reach the health threshold, shoot all six eyes. Everyone returns to their plate for the next part.

The Dropdown

As you fall, you will notice Taken pimples on Riven, shooting them deals damage. If you do not reach the threshold, you must repeat the previous steps until you do.

Final Stand

Riven’s Final Stand starts with you teleported into the Ascendant Realm. You will not heal naturally in this area. Follow the path of Taken Phalanxes until you reach the Taken Strength. One player must collect it to teleport everyone back to Riven. Kill Riven and wait until her mouth opens. Jump inside and destroy her heart. Be swift, as you will take damage over time.

Last Wish: Queenswalk

The final encounter in the Last Wish Raid. Queenwalk is a fairly simple encounter. It is the only time you will not assign players individual roles. Right before you start, one player will be chosen by Riven. They must be the one to pick up Riven’s heart.

Once you pick it up, the encounter starts, and the heart starts beating. Progress out of Riven’s mouth. As the timer decreases, the area around the heart shrinks. If you are outside the area, you will gain stacks of creeping darkness until 10, where you die. When the timer hits zero, the player goes into the heart, and a Riven chooses a new player. Stay away from the heart. When the player gets teleported, it can take you as well.

The path you are taking is back towards the Vault. The player inside the heart has a job. They must pick up the Taken Strength to reset the heart’s timer. Wait until the heart carrier counts to two. You only have one reset per player. Every time a new player enters the heart, an additional Strength appears. For simplicity, always have the first player teleported in to pick up the final Strength. Repeat the process until a player has deposited the heart after dropping down the Vault elevator.
