Trisha Yearwood made a rare red-carpet appearance Oct. 19 at the Best Friends Animal Society Gala in New York City. The Grammy-winning singer, 62, attended the animal welfare benefit at The Glasshouse and later shared photos from the evening, according to E! News.
Yearwood thanked the organization in an Instagram caption posted Oct. 20. “Celebrating our four-legged friends at the Best Friends Gala! Thank you for having us and for all the work you do,” she wrote.
The Gala Appearance
The event marked one of Yearwood’s infrequent public outings on a red carpet, according to E! News, which described her look as a weight-loss transformation. She wore a fitted navy suit with a ruffled white blouse. “The View” co-host Sara Haines hosted the evening, according to Parade.
Yearwood is best known for hits such as “She’s in Love With the Boy” and “How Do I Live,” which earned her a Grammy for best female country vocal performance. Her appearance at the Best Friends gala put a spotlight on animal welfare, a cause she has backed for years. She launched the Trisha Yearwood Pet Collection, which donates a portion of its proceeds to animal welfare organizations, and has supported Best Friends with donations of food and money, Parade reported.
Background and Family
Yearwood has been married to country music star Garth Brooks since 2005 and is stepmother to his three daughters, Taylor, August and Allie, from his first marriage, to Sandy Mahl. Her public profile has remained largely tied to her music career and charitable work rather than frequent red-carpet events.
Fans Notice a New Look
Fans flooded Yearwood’s Instagram post with compliments on her suit and her new shoulder-length bob, according to Parade. Yearwood has spoken openly over the years about her weight, including a 30-pound loss she shared in 2013, according to E! News.
