Avengers: Endgame Is Returning With New Footage—and MCU Fans Are Hyped
“Avengers: Endgame Encore” will return to the big screens on Sept. 25 with new footage that, according to insiders and one prominent leaker, is intended to bridge the 2019 blockbuster directly into the next Avengers film, “Avengers: Doomsday.” The re-release, being called “Avengers: Endgame Encore,” is said to include a fresh intro, bonus scenes, and an ending sequence that leads into “Doomsday,” and one source claims the Encore cut could run about seven minutes longer than the original theatrical release.

The re-release is being framed by Marvel and filmmakers as more than a simple rerelease for fans. In a statement obtained by ComicBookMovie, Joe Russo, co-director of the original Endgame and of the forthcoming Avengers films, described the “Encore” as a “critical companion storyand said the new footage was added specifically to set up “Avengers: Doomsday.” Russo told an audience at the Sands Film Festival that the added material is set for the story of “Doomsday” and that re-releasing “Endgame” gives the filmmakers a chance to set up the next chapter.
Rumors about the Encore’s length surfaced on social media, where leaker @Cryptic4KQual on X said, “I hear the “Avengers: Endgame Encore” will have a new intro, new bonus scenes, and the ending sequence will lead directly into Avengers: Doomsday. Take with a grain of salt, but I’m also hearing it will be 7 minutes longer than the original.” It’s important to note that the leaker said to treat the information cautiously since the movie won’t be out till the fall.

Why Marvel Is Re-Releasing “Endgame” Now
“Avengers: Endgame” was a cultural event when it opened in 2019, debuting to roughly $1.2 billion worldwide and ultimately grossing $2.799 billion, a record that stood until the re-release of James Cameron’s “Avatar” reclaimed the top spot.
