It’s time for your Tuesday morning daily devotional. It’s not difficult to spot a virtuous woman. She’s hardworking, loves God, and serves her family. She’s faithful to her church and compassionate to strangers, sharing her time and resources. In today’s daily devotional, the world may not value godliness, but God favors a virtuous woman.
Strength and Honor
In Proverbs 31:25-31, the queen mother continues her description, giving her son, King Lemuel, many characteristics of a godly wife. She has described her virtues for fifteen verses, but she has more insights. She mentioned her strength, but now takes it a step further: “Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.”
She’s not only strong, but she wears her strength like clothing. She shows her selfless character by dressing her family well and making and selling garments for others. In your daily devotional, “wearing” your clothing means your inner strength and dignity shine through.
Wisdom and Kindness
Exuding strength, she walks in honor. She has a stellar reputation for she walks righteously. In verse 26, “She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” Deborah was a virtuous woman. She was a prophetess, but she was also the only woman who judged Israel. Deborah was known for her great wisdom and discernment.
All Israel went to the palm tree where she sat to give judgment. When Barak, the army commander, wouldn’t go to war without her, she acquiesced and rode out to battle. In this daily devotional, Ephesians 4:32 teaches you to walk with kindness. If you don’t lead with kindness, the world won’t see Jesus in you.
Blessed by God

Verse 27 describes the virtuous woman managing her household with wisdom and finesse. Idleness or laziness has no place in her. She knows what her household needs and provides for it. Deborah judged Israel, but she was also a wife and mother. As she led the nation, she also led her household. Her outside responsibilities didn’t deter her from being a godly wife and mother.
In verse 28, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” Lapidoth, Deborah’s husband, accepted her roles as a prophetess and judge of Israel. In Judges 5, Deborah sings a song of victory and praise to God, who helped Israel defeat her enemies, as her family praises her leadership and wisdom. In your daily devotional, when you do what’s right, those who recognize your works will arise and honor you.
Favor and Beauty
The queen mother makes a bold statement in verse 30: “ Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” You can’t trust in man’s favor because it can quickly change. When Deborah went into battle with Barak, she didn’t rely on the army’s weapons.
She trusted Israel’s God to keep them safe. The Book of Judges doesn’t focus on Deborah’s outward appearance because it wasn’t essential. A beautiful but ungodly woman isn’t a blessing. In this daily devotional, when you carry yourself with dignity and wisdom, God’s blessings will be upon you and your family.
You’re Favored By God
In Tuesday’s daily devotional, the last verse of Proverbs 31 has the king’s mother singing the virtuous woman’s praises: “Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” In today’s daily devotional, God rewards godly character and excellent work. As a virtuous woman, you’re favored by God.
