Cobra Kai/Karate Kid star Martian Kove got into some trouble after he “playfully” bit his Co-Star from the hit show, Alicia Hannah-Kim. Kove is best known for playing Sensei John Kreese in both the “Miyagi-verse” film series and spin-off show, where he was the founder of Cobra Kai Dojo and met an explosive end. Hannah-Kim debuted in the Cobra Kai series as Kim Da-Eun, the granddaughter of the sensei who taught Kreese karate and was recruited by Terry Silver when he took over the Kai dojo.

A Cobra Bite to Remember

Kove and Hannah-Kim attended Summer Con in Puyallup, Washington, this past weekend, where they both were present for a meet-and-greet for fans, where Kove grabbed Hannah-Kim’s arm and bit her. In her written police statement, she states, “I walked past Martin Kove, tapped him on the shoulder and said hello & he turned around, grabbed my arm and bit down hard, almost drawing blood. I yelped and drew back, and then he grabbed my arm again to kiss it. I pulled away and rushed back to my table.” Hannah-Kim told officers that when she and her husband went to confront the 78-year-old actor, he “exploded” on them, saying he didn’t do anything wrong.

A Statement from Kove

Since the incident, Kove himself has released a statement through Jaffe & Company PR & Crisis Management to Deadline, stating, “I deeply regret and apologize for my actions regarding the incident with Alicia [Hannah-Kim], a genuinely kind and wonderful person who didn’t deserve to be put in this position. I’ve always respected her and considered her a highly professional and talented co-worker on Cobra Kai. I was being playful in the moment, but I went too far, and there is no excuse for my behavior. I regret my actions for which I take full responsibility for what I did, and again I apologize to her and her husband. I’m committed to learning from this, and it will never happen again.”

Not the First Time of Something Weird

This is not the first time Kove has done something this “weird”. SNL Alum and star of HBO’s ‘Barry’, Bill Hader, told the story of how he drove around when he was 20 years old. This was talked about on a 2013 episode of ‘WTF with Marc Maron’ where he claims he drove Kove around in his S—- car and got him lost on purpose. When they got to their destination, Hader’s boss yelled at him for being late.

Even though Kove has given an apology to Hannah-Kim, it makes one think about what else he has done out of the “norm”, and if he really is sorry for his actions. If he truly has learned his lesson, then he should start respecting how he handles his co-stars and the people around him.
