The “Spaceship Earth” pilot cast has grown by three. Maeve Touhey, Ta’imua and Freddie O’Donahue have joined the Disney+ project in series regular roles, according to Deadline, which broke the casting news Oct. 21.
They join previously announced leads Catherine Laga’aia, who starred as the title character in Disney’s live-action “Moana,” and Deacon Phillippe.
Meet the New Cast
Character names and roles for Touhey, Ta’imua and O’Donahue are being kept under wraps. Their casting rounds out the pilot’s series regular lineup, according to Deadline.
“Spaceship Earth” marks Touhey’s acting debut. The New York City-based performer records under the name Maeve, and her music has picked up an international following and airplay on SiriusXM Hits 1. Her debut project is on the way.
Hawaii native Ta’imua plays one of the leads in “Jane Austen’s Period Drama,” which earned an Oscar nomination for best live-action short film earlier this year. His TV credits include Apple TV+’s “Truth Be Told” and ABC’s “Doctor Odyssey.”
O’Donahue has two films on deck: “A Great Depression,” due next year, and the thriller “Bullies Anonymous.”
The Project So Far
“Spaceship Earth” takes its name and inspiration from the EPCOT attraction housed inside the park’s famous geodesic sphere. Disney+ ordered the pilot in August.
The story follows a group of teenagers from Earth’s past and future who team up after a mission to stop a global catastrophe goes wrong, putting them up against a threat tied to time itself.
What’s Next
Jason Fuchs (“IT: Welcome to Derry”) and Michael Waldron (“Loki”) co-wrote the pilot for 20th Television. Fuchs is showrunning and executive producing, and Waldron is also an executive producer. Lee Toland Krieger (“You,” “Riverdale”) directs the pilot and executive produces.
Disney+ hasn’t ordered “Spaceship Earth” to series yet, and no production timeline or premiere date has been announced.
