Marvel Zodiac Series: ‘Euphoria’ Co-Creator Joins Spy Hunt

Marvel has tapped Amit Cohen and Ron Leshem to write its upcoming Zodiac spy series, according to Deadline. The project was announced on Oct.

Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ spy thriller “Zodiac” has found its writers. Longtime writing partners Amit Cohen and Ron Leshem are set to write the live-action series, Deadline reported Thursday, citing sources.

Marvel Television chief Brad Winderbaum unveiled the title and logo at New York Comic Con on Oct. 8 but shared little about the story. Deadline’s sources now say the Marvel Zodiac series follows two spies tracking down targets who possess special abilities. Cameras are expected to roll in London in spring 2027 ahead of a planned 2028 premiere.

Who Are Amit Cohen and Ron Leshem?

Leshem co-created the original Israeli “Euphoria” with Daphna Levin in 2012. Sam Levinson later adapted it into HBO‘s Zendaya-led drama, where Leshem serves as an executive producer.

Cohen and Leshem first met while serving in Unit 8200, the Israeli military’s intelligence corps, which is a fitting resume line for two writers now handed a Marvel spy story. Together they’ve created and executive produced a string of Israeli series, including “Trust No One,” “Bad Boy,” “8200,” “Red Skies” and “Traitor,” according to Deadline. The partnership also produced the war drama “Valley of Tears,” which later streamed on HBO Max.

The duo reached American streaming audiences with “No Man’s Land,” the Hulu and Arte drama they co-created with Maria Feldman and Eitan Mansuri. Their track record spans Israeli television and American streaming, giving Marvel a writing team with experience building character-driven thrillers on two continents.

What Remains Unknown About Zodiac

Deadline’s report lays out the broad premise and the writers attached, but several key details have not been announced. No cast has been named, though Winderbaum said at NYCC that casting would begin within weeks. There’s also no word on episode count or series structure, and Marvel hasn’t said how closely the show ties into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The nature of the targets’ special abilities hasn’t been specified either. Neither has whether the series draws on any of the Marvel Comics characters and groups that have used the Zodiac name over the years. Those specifics will likely emerge as the project moves closer to its 2027 production start.

Zodiac’s Place in Marvel’s TV Slate

“Zodiac” arrives as Marvel’s live-action television lineup keeps thinning, with many of the franchise’s most popular titles already finished or nearing their end, Deadline noted. “VisionQuest,” which closes out the “WandaVision” trilogy, premiered Oct. 13 and airs weekly through its Nov. 10 finale.

That makes “Zodiac” the first new live-action Marvel series announced since “Ironheart,” and one of the few left on the studio’s board as it reshapes its TV output. For now, the next milestone to watch is casting.
