“The Watcher” season 2 cast is getting four new faces. Madelaine Petsch, Evan Adams, Owen Painter and Quintessa Swindell have signed on as series regulars, Deadline reported. Netflix hasn’t revealed who they’ll play.
The Project So Far
Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale return to lead “The Watcher” as Nora and Dean Brannock. Margo Martindale is back as nosy neighbor Mo, Isabel Gravitt returns as daughter Ellie Brannock and Jennifer Coolidge reprises her role as real estate agent Karen Calhoun.
The newcomers have plenty of genre experience. Petsch, best known for “Riverdale,” starred in “The Strangers: Chapter 1” and appeared in “American Horror Story.” Painter appeared in “Wednesday,” Swindell’s credits include “Black Adam” and “Prime Target,” and Adams appeared in “Valley of the Shadow.”
Ian Brennan, who created the series with Ryan Murphy, serves as showrunner for season 2. Crystle Roberson Dorsey directs and executive produces. Production begins this fall in New York.
The series is based on Reeves Wiedeman’s 2018 New York magazine article “The Haunting of a Dream House.” Season 1 premiered in October 2022 and followed the Brannocks, whose new suburban home came with an unwanted pen pal: someone signing threatening letters as The Watcher. Netflix renewed the series the following month.
What’s Next
No premiere date has been announced. Deadline noted that if season 2 arrives in 2027, the gap between seasons would come close to the six-year record for a U.S. series, which HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” holds.
