A Savannah Guthrie plea posted Nov. 1 marked nine months since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing from her Arizona home. The “Today” co-anchor wrote that her family still has no answers and asked anyone with information to come forward.

“We cannot move forward,” Guthrie wrote on Instagram, where she shared an old drawing by her daughter alongside a photo of her mother, as Deadline also reported. The family, the FBI and 88-CRIME are offering rewards totaling more than $1.2 million.

What Savannah Guthrie wrote

The drawing shows an umbrella in the rain with the message, “I know it might not seem like it, but I really need my mommy.”

“Found this old drawing from my daughter today. It says so much about how I feel. The world goes on, things appear ‘normal’ — as we try to keep going and be strong, especially for our young kids — but it’s not and it never will be,” Guthrie wrote.

“For Annie and Tommy, for Cam and Kristine, for Mike and me and for all of mom’s beloved grandchildren: we ache for her, we cry out for answers, we cannot move forward.

“We need someone to help us, tell us what you know. Our mom was a light in this world. We want to celebrate her and give her the dignity she deserves.

“The reward is still available. Please. We are begging you. Please help us.”

The post names both of Guthrie’s siblings, Annie and Cam, along with her husband, Mike. She also thanked those who “have been kind and shown the best of humanity.”

Timeline of the case

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen Jan. 31 at her home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson. Her family reported her missing Feb. 1 after she didn’t show up for church, and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced the search that day. Authorities believe she was taken from her home against her will, and the FBI has said the case continues to be investigated as a kidnapping for ransom.

The FBI offered $50,000 on Feb. 5 and later raised its reward to $100,000. The Guthrie family offered up to $1 million on Feb. 24. 88-CRIME is offering $102,500.

Tucson station KOLD received two ransom notes, one Feb. 2 and the other Feb. 6, and turned them over to investigators. News outlets reported June 22 that the second note claimed Nancy Guthrie had died, and the sheriff’s department declined to comment on its contents.

The department released both notes July 31, hoping someone would recognize the writer’s language. The first demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency. The second said she “perished shortly after she was taken.” The FBI has not said which notes it believes are legitimate.

Where the investigation stands

Guthrie’s post came two days after the sheriff’s department said its task force “continues to work with our labs in hopes of furthering our DNA analysis in this investigation.” Investigators traveled to Florida in October to meet with lab scientists, the department said.

No arrests have been announced, and no one has been publicly identified as a suspect. The FBI has released doorbell camera footage of a masked person outside Nancy Guthrie’s home.

Anyone with information can call the FBI at 1-800-225-5324 or 88-CRIME at 520-882-7463, or submit a tip at tips.fbi.gov.
