Lucian Piane, the composer and producer behind some of “RuPaul’s Drag Race’s” biggest musical numbers, died on Oct. 12, 2026, according to Deadline. He was 46.
Piane was struck by a car Monday morning in Glendale, California, and died from his injuries, Deadline reported, citing Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office records that state he died in the street.
What Happened To Lucian Piane
The Lucian Piane death comes two days after Glendale police took him into custody on Oct. 10 for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to Deadline. He was detained again on Oct. 11 for an alleged assault on an officer or emergency personnel.

Fans and friends had voiced concern for him online after he posted a series of videos on Instagram, with some commenters asking him to get sober and stay sober and writing, “This is so sad to see. Lucian please seek help.”
Journalist Larry Flick wrote a tribute to Piane, saying, “Lucian was my friend. It wasn’t always easy. He was troubled, complicated, and filled with rage that he didn’t know how to manage.
Like many, I tried to help until he made it impossible. Guilt right now is real. The way he left this life was tragic and brutal.
But I pray rest and peace await him on the other side,” according to Variety.
