Quentin Tarantino has a new fan letter on its way, and Lisa is fighting her way through an entire hotel staff to deliver it. The Blackpink star released the music video for “Tarantino” at midnight Oct. 23, the same moment her new six-track EP, “Press Play,” arrived via Lloud and RCA Records.
The song is a tribute to the director behind “Kill Bill” and “Pulp Fiction,” and the 3½-minute video plays like a love letter to his work. Grammy-winning director James Mackel casts the singer as a spy with a job to finish and a flight to catch, leaning into spy-film staging and hand-to-hand combat over a standard performance video, Billboard reported.
‘Tarantino’ Music Video Release Details
- Release: Oct. 23, alongside the “Press Play” EP
- Director: James Mackel
- Runtime: 3½ minutes
- Label: Lloud and RCA Records
The hotel setting becomes the video’s main stage. Lisa leads a choreographed routine with the chambermaids and bellboys, then trades the dance moves for punches and kicks as she works through the kitchen staff. The action stays tied to the song’s rhythm, so the fights feel like part of the choreography instead of a separate interlude.
Her mission pays off in the final moments. Lisa slips a red letter under the door of her “favorite director,” and the video never reveals what it says.
One scene nods directly to Lisa’s recent collaboration with PlayStation. Fans got an early taste of “Tarantino” through her social media and a PlayStation promo for the limited-edition Lisa DualSense wireless controller, which she helped design. In the video, she autographs one of the controllers for a fan, folding that promotional tie-in into the story itself.
The lyrics match the video’s confident, cinematic tone, too. Lisa nods to “Kill Bill” and “Death Proof,” rolls through gun-and-glamour imagery and closes with an invitation to “come and press play,” a line that doubles as a nod to the EP’s title.
How ‘Tarantino’ Fits Into Lisa’s Current Run
“Tarantino” follows the EP’s lead single, “SaWaDiKa,” which debuted at No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 23 on the Billboard Global 200 in September. Both tracks build on the momentum Lisa generated with her debut solo album, “Alter Ego,” which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 after its release in February 2025.
The action-film approach marks a shift from “SaWaDiKa,” whose video took a street-level tour of her hometown of Bangkok. “Tarantino” trades that for a narrative built around stunt work and set pieces. Dropping the video with the full EP also lets listeners hear the song in context alongside its five other tracks: “SaWaDiKa,” “V12,” “Cobra,” “Cut U Off” and “Sweat.”
