MSI 2026 Team Review: Team Liquid Alienware Made the Region Proud and Full of Hope

Team Liquid Alienware was the final team eliminated from the MSI Play-Ins. On paper, that sounds like a failure, but in reality it was not. They had to beat the LCK second seed, T1, to reach the Bracket Stage. They could not get past them, but fought valiantly in their series. They also achieved bragging rights over Karmine Corp and Europe with their 3-0 victory.

Team Liquid Alienware Player Review

Morgan

  • Total Apex Rating – 5.9 (5th among top laners, tied 29th among players)
  • Champions Played
    • Renekton (3)
    • Gnar (2)
    • Ornn (2)
    • Rumble (2)
    • Twisted Fate
    • Yasuo

Morgan had a great start to MSI against Doran. He regularly had leads against the LCK top laner. However, he never turned those leads into anything. He was okay against DCG and took over the top lane matchup over Canna. In the rematch against T1, he could not find the same value as the first series. The Renekton, as always, is Morgan’s best champion.

Josedeodo

  • Total Apex Rating – 6.5 (4th among junglers, tied 13th among players)
  • Champions Played
    • Nocturne (3)
    • Jarvan IV
    • Lee Sin
    • Naafiri
    • Olaf
    • Pantheon
    • Poppy
    • Shyvana
    • Wukong
    • Xin Zhao

Josedeodo, not against T1, was a beast. He put on a Lee Sin clinic against Karmine Corp. If the two teams meet again, the French outfit will likely keep Lee Sin banned. He was often the point of difference in TL’s wins, alongside CoreJJ. However, against Oner, he did not keep up with the T1 Jungler. Josedeodo could never seem to outsmite Oner in the vital moments.

Quid

  • Total Apex Rating – 6.3 (tied 4th among mid laners
  • Champions Played
    • Akali (2)
    • Galio (2)
    • Ryze (2)
    • Ahri
    • Orianna
    • Sylas
    • Taliyah
    • Viktor
    • Yasuo

Quid’s opening series was a disappointment. He had a significant lead on Taliyah and was looking to carry TL over the line. However, he accidentally used his Seeker’s Armguard, and T1 took advantage of that. It was not the reason TL lost, but it did contribute. He stepped up for the rest of the tournament, even being the best TL player against T1 in the rematch. The Sylas was especially impressive after he got solo killed by Faker in lane.

Yeon

  • Total Apex Rating – 5.6 (5th among bot laners, tied 29th for players)
  • Champions Played
      • Varus (3)
      • Senna (2)
      • Caitlyn
      • Kai’Sa
      • Lucian
      • Mel
      • Tristana
      • Xayah
      • Ziggs

Yeon took some time to wake up at MSI. He struggled against Peyz and Keria. The T1 bot lane kept him quiet throughout the series. He steadily improved over the course of the tournament. He was a passenger in the win over Karmine Corp, but the series was never about him. He stepped up against T1 in the rematch, especially on Varus, but it was not enough to win.

CoreJJ

  • Total Apex Rating – 6.6 (2nd among supports, tied 10th among players)
  • Champions Played
    • Rell (3)
    • Bard (2)
    • Nautilus (2)
    • Alistar
    • Neeko
    • Pantheon
    • Rakan
    • Renata Glasc

With CoreJJ getting older, many felt his best years were behind him. He showed at this MSI that he still has it in him. He was a pivotal part in TL’s success at the tournament. In both series wins, CoreJJ led the line. The only aspect preventing him from being the player of the series against Karmine Corp was Josedeodo’s Lee Sin. He was good against T1, but like Yeon, was denied by Keria.

While it was not the result they would have wanted, TL can be proud of their performance. They defeated the LEC second seed and kept competitive against T1. They had moments in both series where they should have won. However, that is the trick of playing against teams like T1. If you make one mistake while ahead, they will make you regret it. There are promising aspects for the rest of the year. If Yeon can return to the form everyone knows him for, this team might be the LCS champions in Summer.
