Team Secret Whales had a mountain to climb against Hanwha Life Esports in their opening MSI series. They could not ascend that mountain, but they did show their worth in the third game. HLE took the 3-0 victory for the seventh consecutive 3-0 of the 2026 MSI. HLE will play against G2 Esports, while TSW must take on Top Esports in their next matches.

Dire Dying Early

Delight gets level two and roams to the mid lane. He burns both Summoner Spells and earns the First Blood kill for Zeka. Kanavi ganks shortly after for a second kill on Dire. TSW battles back after Pun dies. Kanavi overextends in TSW’s jungle, and they turn that pressure into a kill on Zeus. Gumayusi wins in isolation, taking the First Blood Tower. Dire tries to punish him, but he dies, and Gumayusi heads to the mid lane for another tower. HLE takes the top inhibitor before the sixteen-minute mark.

The Game Slows Down

With only Inhibitor and Nexus Towers left standing, the game slows down. HLE is unable to siege the towers without the Baron or mistakes from TSW. After a couple of picks, HLE takes the Baron. A teleport behind on the HLE Baron siege ends with Zeus dying. Moments later, Bie dies, giving HLE the confidence to push for the end.

The Game Explodes Early

Pun and Hizto look to dive Zeus. However, Delight shows up in time to cover. Zeus dies, but so does Pun. Zeka shows up, and the fight extends. Both Hizto and Bie die, while Pun teleports back. Dire tries to help his top laner and can only kill Delight. The plays skew in HLE’s favor for the second game in a row as Delight shows up at the perfect times.

Winning On Both Sides of the Map

After killing Bie, HLE pulls a trigger by diving Pun. At the same time, Zeka teleports topside to keep Zeus alive. The gold lead grows to 4k. After an extended play in the bot lane, TSW emerge with more kills. However, with Zeka picking up the top tower, HLE has a bigger gold lead. The fight lasted around two minutes, with multiple teleports and players returning after dying. Pun is the largest benefactor, picking up four kills, including shutdowns.

Fighting Back

Delight and Kanavi go deep on the Drake fight. That gives TSW the space to open up as they get another four kills and the Drake. TSW gets caught, but Pun is too strong for HLE to break through. HLE finally take down the Volibear, and that is the trigger for HLE to end the game.

Zeus Wins in Isolation

Zeus picks Dr. Mundo for the first time in his international career. Despite that, and being a weaker early-game champion, Zeus earns a solo kill for First Blood. Pun can not play in the early game. Kanavi and Delight help Zeus earn another kill. After Gumayusi and Zeus swap, they dive Pun again. TSW gets back into the game when Gumayusi returns to the bot lane. He dies under tower, and Eddie takes the First Blood tower.

TSW With Their First Gold Lead

Kanavi dies in the bot lane river, and TSW translate that into kills on Gumayusi and Delight. They have a gold lead for the first time in the series. HLE outmaneuvered TSW on the map to kill Pun and get the top tower. The HLE’s map movements result in HLE taking back the gold lead. Kanavi goes too far in the Drake fight, and he dies. TSW are separated and lose their solo laners. HLE cannot take the Drake, which allows TSW to take the objective. HLE wins a skirmish topside, and the game is moving away from TSW.

TSW Collapse

Pun tries to flank on the Drake, but he dies. TSW is in disarray as HLE kills every member of the team. They move over to the Baron to push for a significant lead. They get the lead and the series victory.

MSI 2026: Series Ratings

Hanwha Life Esports

Zeus – 6.7

Zeus had some shaky moments in the series. His Jayce was not as dominant as we have seen. He also made mistakes on Ambessa in crucial moments that, in an even game, would have mattered.

Kanavi – 6.0

Kanavi played how he normally does. He goes in and hopes his team follows. Sometimes he went in too far. The Qiyana was not as dominant as he had been in the LPL last year.

Zeka – 7.3

Zeka was stable throughout the series. The game was often played without him. However, when he arrived, he dominated the fights.

Gumayusi – 7.0

His first two games were really good. He won in isolation and outplayed ganks. The third game was a drop-off. Most of it was not his fault, but there were some moments he could have played better.

Delight – 7.3 (Total Apex Player of the Series)

Delight dominated the map throughout the series. He was everywhere he needed to be as Camille. He had one overaggressive play, but the rest was phenomenal.

Team Secret Whales

Pun – 5.7

Pun was the shining light for TSW in the series. He was afforded kills on Volibear. He used those kills to be his team’s frontline. Unfortunately, he died once, and the game collapsed. He was targeted on Renekton and could not impact the game.

Hizto – 4.7

Hizto came alive in the third game of the series. He was the main reason for TSW’s lead in the mid-game. Unfortunately, it was too late for the team.

Dire – 3.3

Dire struggled on the international stage once again. He died early in game one and never recovered. Granted, he had to play against Zeka. However, he had some unnecessary deaths throughout the series.

Eddie – 4.3

Eddie was mostly stable for his team. However, he never had the chance to impact the series. He had good Deadly Flourishes and Curtain Calls to help Pun in Game 2.

Bie – 3.3

Bie was always second on the map compared to Delight. He tried to match the HLE support, but was always behind.
