Team Secret Whales and Top Esports lost their first series of MSI. TSW had to take on the LCK first seed, Hanwha Life Esports. TES had an easier matchup against G2 Esports. They went 2-0 up in the series but fell to a reverse sweep. The loser of TSW and TES will see their MSI journey end. Neither team will want to be the first Bracket Stage team eliminated.

TSW lost 3-0 to Hanwha Life Esports in their first series. They showed some fight against the LCK first seed, but they were second-best overall. On the other hand, TES were one game away from winning the first series against G2 Esports. Once the EU representative recovered, TES could not match them. TES is one of two teams that did not lose 3-0 in their opening series of the Bracket Stage.

Featured Matchup

Pun Versus ZUIAN

The top lane matchup should deliver exciting laning phases. Pun’s Volibear was the best part of TSW’s series against Hanwha Life Esports. He got one good skirmish and then became a raid boss. ZUIAN was that raid boss in the first game against G2. The rest of the series, he struggled. With more experience on the international stage, he should play better.

Can TSW Win A Game?

Despite qualifying for First Stand and MSI, TSW have yet to win a game at international events in 2026. They lost 3-0 to G2 Esports and FearX at First Stand. Their previous MSI series was also a 3-0 loss. They will want to leave MSI with at least one game win under their belt. They showed they can contend with top teams in the series against HLE. TES is not on that level at the moment, and TSW might be able to pull off the upset victory. It will not be easy, but if they find their groove, TES could be in trouble.

Will TES Mentally Recover?

Getting reverse swept in a series will always tax a team’s mental. That, coupled with the draft issues in game five, may have impacted TES’s mental. Fortunately for them, they get an easier opponent than some of the teams in the competition. TSW is not a team they should take lightly, though. If TES have not recovered and their gameplay falters, they could become the first team to leave the Bracket Stage. TSW showed against HLE that if you give them the chance to play their style, they will challenge you.

Prediction

TSW 1-3 TES

If the draft and the early game go in TSW’s favor, they will have a chance to win. If they fall behind, it will become problematic. TES is very good when they have control. They showed that against G2. Their best games were when they had a small lead. They took that lead and crushed G2. When they were behind, they struggled to compete with the LEC first seed. TSW is a team that wants to fight early and can get leads in the early game. As long as TES stays stable, they should defeat TSW.

Elimination on the Cards

The loser of the series will see their MSI journey come to an end. Neither team will want to be the first eliminated from the Bracket Stage. The winner will move on to the Lower Bracket. They will face the loser of the Bilibili Gaming and LYON series in the next round. The expected opponent is LYON.
