God of War Laufey Unleashes 5 Exciting Preorder Bonuses Ahead of 2027 Release
Mark your calendar: God of War fans can start locking in their copy of the next installment starting September 29. Sony Santa Monica’s God of War Laufey opens preorders that day, with the full game arriving February 16, 2027, as first reported by GameSpot.
The new entry shifts focus toward Faye, a playable character stepping into the spotlight in this chapter of the franchise. That’s a notable departure for a series long defined by Kratos, and it signals Santa Monica is willing to expand its storytelling beyond the character who’s carried the franchise for years.
What’s In Each Preorder Edition
Sony is splitting preorder incentives across two tiers. The Standard Edition will be available in both physical (If we trust them) and digital formats, and it comes packed with the Last Wish armor set for Faye, a cosmetic called Phranque the Cube golden leaves, and an in-game resource pack to help players get a head start.
The Digital Deluxe Edition, meanwhile, is digital-only. It includes everything from the Standard preorder bundle, then stacks on more: Dark Alchemy weapon skins and an armor set, along with Dark Alchemy scales for the Blade and Bow and a matching catalyst. Deluxe buyers also get a digital mini-artbook and the official God of War Laufey soundtrack.
Pricing hasn’t been officially confirmed for this specific release. Sony’s standard editions have typically run $70 with deluxe tiers around $80, but treat those figures as ballpark until Sony confirms actual numbers for Laufey.
Faye’s New Weapon: The Serpent Bow
Alongside the preorder rollout, Sony unveiled a new weapon built specifically for Faye’s playstyle: the Serpent Bow. It’s described as an enchanted weapon capable of firing arrows that hinder enemy movement and disrupt their ability to strike back.
According to the source describing how it functions in-game, “An enchanted weapon, it can unleash a volley of arrows quickly, or you can hold down the aim trigger to unleash a precision bolt that also strikes from a longer range.” Players will reportedly have access to multiple firing modes, including rapid-fire bursts, explosive detonation, and multi-target shots, giving combat encounters more tactical variety than a standard ranged weapon might offer.
