LCK 2026 Playoffs Gen.G Esports Versus KT Rolster Review: History Does Not Repeat Itself As Gen.G Crush KT
KT Rolster met Gen.G Esports in Round 2 of the LCK Playoffs. It is an identical match to last year, where KT shocked everyone by taking them down. The series today was different. Gen.G won 3-0, but it was not dominant. KT had chances in every game, with their best being in game one. Gen.G’s win means T1 will also qualify for the World Championship. Only one spot remains for the LCK. It was also announced earlier today that all four LCK teams will start the World Championship in the Swiss Stage.
Canyon’s Steals Save Gen.G
Kiin and Canyon fell behind early after a failed bot lane invade, which Cuzz followed up with a gank topside. Fortunately for Gen.G, they killed Bdd and their bot lane remained even. However, it started to crumble on the second Drake. Three Gen.G members died, and Cuzz stole the Drake. Gen.G had to give up the Hextech Soul point after losing Duro’s Wild Growth.
Gen.G was slow on the Soul contest. KT took the Drake before Canyon arrived. Gen.G took the fight as KT tried to leave, and they got the ace. Gen.G took Baron after the fight. They used it to stall for the Elder Drake.
Canyon won his first smite battle of the game to deny the Elder Drake. He and Kiin died, meaning KT moved to Baron. KT took the objective, but lost Bdd.
The game stalled for a second Elder Drake fight. Canyon stole the Elder Drake again, and Gen.G killed all five KT members to end the game.
Gen.G Scales Into the Game
Gen.G’s early game was a bit shaky. They lost their bot lane in an early Drake fight. Both kills went to Jiwoo. Fortunately for Gen.G, Canyon took the Drake. Canyon helped his bot lane stabilize. However, Ruler died a couple of times in mid lane, and KT pushed ahead. Unlike game one, KT lacked the Drake stacking.
For Gen.G’s second attempt at Chemtech Soul, they waited for KT’s engage. KT could not bully their way past Canyon on the frontline. Once Cuzz pulled the trigger, Gen.G struck. Ruler survived, Duro landed a three-player Encore, and the rest of Gen.G collapsed. They took the Soul and Baron. Gen.G looked for the end after picking off Bdd on their Baron push. Bdd respawned, but KT could not stand up to Gen.G’s onslaught.
Gen.G Protect Ruler
Ruler walks up while trying to crash the wave. Duro pays for Ruler’s mistake, and Jiwoo earns the first blood. Both teams play for the mid-game scaling with a couple of successful plays for KT.
The tide turns in the third Drake fight. Ruler responds to Cuzz’s flash Cyclone. Gen.G kites to help their AD Carry. Chovy’s Scatter of the Weak catches everyone, and Gen.G wipes KT. Gen.G breaks open the map and moves to a 7k gold lead.
Ruler mispositions around the Baron pit and KT collapses. They use everything on Ruler. He uses his ultimate and Summoner Spells to create space. Canyon’s flash blocks Bdd’s Charm to keep Ruler alive. With nothing left in the tank, KT falls over. Gen.G wins the fight and takes the Baron. KT goes for one more desperate teleport, but Ruler survives again. KT falls, and Gen.G ends the series.
